The WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view is less than a week away and we will be getting the go-home shows for RAW and SmackDown Live this week as they wrap things up.

Bryan Alvarez noted on Wrestling Observer Live that even though WWE might have a huge show lined up for Chase Field, they still won’t have it all booked out until the day of the show. This includes making the decision of which match will headline even though he has a pretty good idea.

“I don’t know. The decision will be made the day of the show. Last year they closed with the Women’s Rumble because they wanted the final scene to be Ronda Rousey debuting and pointing at a sign and I don’t think they’re going to have anything that big on the women’s side this year. The men’s Royal Rumble was significantly better than the women’s last year so my guess would be that the men’s Royal Rumble is closing the show on Sunday.”

It’s debatable on which Royal Rumble match was better last year, but just hearing this comment from Alvarez has to fight a fire under some Superstars to go out there and prove him wrong. If WWE did close out this year’s show with the men’s Royal Rumble match it would certainly match their trend of 50/50 booking.
