As previously reported, Randy Orton underwent surgery to repair a medial meniscus tear in his left knee. Orton revealed to WWE.com knew that he knew he needed surgery back in 2017.

“I’ve known I needed the surgery since late last year, but I’ve been waiting for the right time to get my knee cleaned out. Right now was the right time.”

Recovery time for a medial meniscus tear is around two to three months. This would put Orton back on WWE programming just in time to start the build for the SummerSlam event. It’s very unlikely that he will be put in the United States title picture when he returns, as a lot can happen in the next two to three months on WWE programming.
