Jimmy Jacobs is no stranger to controversy, especially when it comes to his time with WWE. While reflecting on his 2017 release from the company during an interview with Live Audio Wrestling, Jacobs revealed that he holds no ill will over how things went down.
“No mistake was made. I am a-ok with the way everything went down,” Jacobs stated during the interview, suggesting that he was at peace with the circumstances surrounding his exit from WWE.
The reason for his release? A selfie with members of The Bullet Club during their infamous RAW “invasion.” The incident occurred when the Bullet Club, including stars like Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks, staged an outside-the-arena invasion of Monday Night RAW. Jacobs, who had friends in the group, posted a photo with them on Instagram, which violated WWE’s strict policies about interacting with talent from rival promotions.
“It was given to me as the reason,” Jacobs confirmed, noting that the photo was the official cause of his release. However, Jacobs remained uncertain if the photo was the sole factor in his termination or if there were other underlying issues.
“If it was, I’m not aware of any of that. It’s certainly possible, but who knows,” Jacobs added, leaving open the possibility that there might have been other factors involved in WWE’s decision to let him go.
Despite the controversy, Jacobs has continued to thrive in the wrestling industry, first with TNA/IMPACT Wrestling and later in All Elite Wrestling, where he played a crucial role on the creative team. His release from WWE may have been a defining moment, but it hasn’t stopped him from making an impact elsewhere.
