The 2018 Mae Young Classic will finish up at Evolution and Io Shirai will face Toni Storm to decide who wins the tournament this year. But that apparently wasn’t the plan.

Tegan Nox came back from an ACL injury in April and then jumped into the MYC after being pulled last year due to an injury. Then she was taken out of the tournament after being injured in the middle of the tournament.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that Nox was actually the probable winner of the tournament meaning Storm vs Shirai wasn’t the initial plan for Evolution.

Only time will tell if Nox will return and finally rack up some big wins, but apparently, she was in consideration of winning the entire MYC if it wasn’t for her injury.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
