Asuka’s streak came to an end at WrestleMania 34 when she submitted to the Figure 8 from Charlotte Flair. It was a very shocking booking decision that few people thought was possible.

But as it turns out The Empress Of Tomorrow’s moveset was limited for this match so she didn’t have access to one of her most dangerous moves as Dave Meltzer discussed on Wrestling Observer Radio.

“Asuka was banned from using the armbar in this match if you’ll notice. She did a lot of submissions like usually she’ll do the armbar with the triangle and she could only do the triangle.”

Meltzer said the humor in the situation comes because they were initially going to throw in multiple armbar attempts but obviously never did. In fact, when Ronda Rousey was signed a few months ago Asuka was told to start doing the armbar all the time so she did and then she was told to cut out with the armbars for Mania.

It was also speculated that with Auska’s loss her possible future feud with Ronda Rousey later on will need a different hook if they still go with it. After all, they can’t do a streak vs streak at this point since Asuka tapped out at WrestleMania 34.
