Zilla Fatu may be headed to WWE sooner rather than later, but don’t expect him to be standing next to Roman Reigns on day one.
According to False Finish, when Zilla was at the WWE Performance Center, there was talk of him starting in NXT before eventually making the jump into the Bloodline story. That gives fans a much clearer idea of how WWE may handle him.
Zilla has been expected to start with WWE soon, and naturally, the Bloodline question came up right away. He is the 26-year-old son of the late Umaga, and with Roman Reigns, Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso, Solo Sikoa, and Jacob Fatu already involved in WWE, the family connection is impossible to ignore. Still, WWE may not want to throw him straight into that spotlight.
Starting in NXT would let Zilla build his own identity before joining one of WWE’s biggest ongoing stories. He has already worked outside WWE for promotions like House of Glory and Reality of Wrestling, but NXT would give him time to adjust to WWE’s system before the Bloodline pressure hits.
Dave Meltzer previously reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Zilla is expected to start with WWE soon. Now, False Finish’s update suggests WWE may already know the first step before that eventual Bloodline move.
That could be the best thing for him. Let Zilla build some steam, let fans see what he can do, and then make the Bloodline move feel like a real payoff instead of a quick name-drop.
