Brooke Havok’s injury couldn’t have come at a much worse time. Just as the independent standout was building momentum, a new backstage report says WWE was already making plans for her behind the scenes.
Havok recently revealed that she tore her ACL and meniscus during a September 4 show in Philadelphia. The injury will require surgery and keep her out of action for months, with Jonathan Gresham even launching a GoFundMe to help with her recovery and living expenses while she’s unable to wrestle.
Now, another update has surfaced. According to Fightful Select, Havok was internally expected to receive a WWE ID deal following her tryout during SummerSlam weekend. The report notes that it’s still unclear whether she officially signed before suffering the injury, but WWE saw a bright future for her.
That makes the timing especially rough for the independent star. Instead of preparing for what could’ve been the next chapter of her career, Havok is now focused on surgery and getting back on her feet.
The report doesn’t say WWE has moved on from those plans, only that her injury happened before it could be confirmed whether a deal had officially been signed. For now, the focus is on recovery, with the hope that she’ll eventually be able to pick up where she left off.
