WWE isn’t just giving Austin Theory another push to see what happens. The company is “1,000%” behind him, and his rise may be creating some frustration for Bron Breakker along the way.
While speaking on 2 Count Tuesday, Jonathan Coachman said his sources have made it very clear just how strongly WWE currently believes in Theory.
“My sources also told me that they are 100—no, 1,000% behind the Austin Theory push. They are really, really high right now on Austin Theory.”
That’s a pretty emphatic endorsement for someone whose WWE career has already gone through several different starts and stops. Theory has been pushed heavily before, but Coachman’s claim suggests WWE isn’t treating his latest run as another experiment.
And apparently, Bron Breakker has noticed. When JD argued that Breakker should be nowhere near Theory’s current situation, Coachman agreed and claimed that’s another reason Breakker has been frustrated backstage. He pointed specifically to a recent segment that he believes was designed primarily to showcase Theory, with Breakker only coming in afterward.
“100%. That’s another reason why he’s pissed, is he basically had a squash match and then Bron came in to clean things up. That was a showcase for Austin Theory and then, ‘Oh yeah, Bron, you come on in. Come on in.’”
Coachman had already claimed earlier in the discussion that Breakker’s frustration is very real.
“And I have it confirmed to me, confirmed to me that Bron, all the reports you’re hearing are absolutely true. He is pissed. He is not happy.”
WWE may already be trying to address that problem. Breakker has now had two confrontations with Oba Femi, and Coachman believes those moments are part of an effort to move him back toward the level WWE should be presenting him at.
“And I think that’s part of the reason you’re starting to see creative go, wait a second, we got to get him back into the right level, which is why we’ve seen two faceoffs the last two weeks. Oba, Bron Breakker.”
But the bigger takeaway here is Austin Theory. WWE has tried pushing him before, backed away, rebuilt him and tried again. This time, the message coming from Coachman’s sources couldn’t be much stronger: WWE is “1,000%” behind Austin Theory.
Theory has been handed opportunities before. Now WWE apparently believes he’s ready to make this one stick—and if Coachman’s report is accurate, the company isn’t planning to hit the brakes anytime soon.
