Royce Keys’ standing within WWE looks a lot different than it did just a couple of months ago. According to a new backstage update, he’s now becoming one of the biggest talking points during the company’s production meetings.
Speaking during BackupHangman Radio, Self Made Pro was asked whether this is the best Keys has ever been booked. They admitted they were initially concerned about how his WWE run was unfolding, saying it looked like he might struggle to find his footing after arriving from AEW.
“You know, the beginning of his WWE run was, like, terrifying. Like, it was looking like it was going to be every, like, ex-AEW guy coming in in the last, like, year where, like, it just doesn’t work out. You know, look at, like, Ricky Saints. But I will say his presentation the last two months has been, like—it’s caught me off guard because, like, out of nowhere, like, I really want to know what changed.”
According to the report, Keys has gone from looking like another former AEW signing trying to find his place to becoming one of the featured heels on RAW as part of 946, with WWE putting significant effort into how he’s presented each week.
“Out of nowhere, he’s, like, the main-event heel of RAW, and now to a point where, like, in production meetings, they’re devoting, like, large swaths of time to just, like, ‘How do we present Royce Keys this week?’ And it’s like, where did this come from?”
It’s a notable change from where Keys seemed to be earlier in his WWE run. If this backstage update is any indication, WWE has become much more invested in his presentation, and the company appears determined to keep building him into one of RAW’s top heels.
Do you think Royce Keys has earned his spot as one of RAW’s top heels, or is there still another level for him to reach? Let us know in the comments below.
