Tonight’s WWE SmackDown, airing February 28, 2025, promises an action-packed night live from the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The WWE Elimination Chamber go-home show will see WWE United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamuura defend his title against “The Mega Star” LA Knight. Plus, Undisputed WWE Champion “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes will appear.

WWE SmackDown Results (2/28/25): Live Match Updates and Highlights

The show opens up with Joe Tessitore welcoming us as we see shots of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. We then get a video package recapping last week’s segment between The Rock and Undisputed WWE Champion “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes. Rhodes is then shown walking backstage and a couple of men came up to guide the Undisputed WWE Champion to his new locker room courtesy of The Final Boss.

WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus is then introduced and Stratus makes her way down to the ring. “Thank you, Trish!” chants break out as the WWE Hall of Famer stands in the middle of the ring. Stratus thanks Lilian Garcia for introducing her and asks the crowd what year it is considering how she is back, The Rock is back and Garcia is introducing her. Stratus then points out a little girl in the crowd and says her dad probably had a poster of her on his wall. Stratus then notes how Saturday night will be the first time her kids will see her wrestle live. Stratus then says she is beyond excited to be teaming up with Tiffany Stratton and with that in mind, Stratus introduces WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton, who makes her way down to the ring.

Stratton is wearing a Toronto Maple Leafs jersey and sets up the fans to say, “It’s Trishy Time and it’s Tiffy Time!” Stratus and Stratton then remove their Maple Leafs jerseys, kisses them and tosses them to the crowd. Stratton then says they are going to beat Nia Jax and Candice LeRae tomorrow.

WWE Women’s United States Champion Chelsea Green’s music then hits and Green makes her way out with Piper Niven. Green says nobody wants dumb and dumber hogging the air time and loud “Chelsea!” chants break out. Green then says she’s the best thing to step in the arena tonight. Green then takes a shot at Auston Matthews. Green then says once she left Canada everything got better for her because the people are better in America. Stratton then says she’s from America and Green doesn’t represent her as a U.S. Champion. Stratton then challenges Green to a match tonight, but Green says she couldn’t because she had plans. SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis then sends a referee to the ring and the match is made official.

Singles Match: WWE Women’s United States Champion Chelsea Green vs. WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton

The match starts off with both women locking up. They then take turns in locking one another in submission holds, but Stratton hits a back elbow on Green and follows it up with a dropkick. Niven then pulls Green out of the ring, but Stratus nails Niven and Stratton hits a Swanton Bomb to land on both Niven and Green. Nia Jax and Candice LeRae then appear out of nowhere and attack Stratus, causing the disqualification when they pull Stratton out of the ring.

The winner of the Singles Match via disqualification, WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton!

After the match, Jax and LeRae continue to beat down Stratton. Jax then sets up for the An-Nia-Lator on Stratton, but Stratus takes LeRae down and goes after Jax. Stratton and Stratus then double team on Jax and Jax and LeRae retreat up the ramp.

We then get video footage from earlier in the day of Nick Aldis explaining that there was debate over who the No. 1 Contender to the U.S. Championship is. Aldis then announces the three qualifying Singles Matches and says the winners will meet in a Triple Threat to become No. 1 Contender.

We then see Solo Sikoa walking backstage and he runs into Jacob Fatu. Sikoa says what happened last week was an accident. Sikoa then says what happened last week made him realize his family needs to make a statement. Sikoa then says he wants Fatu to bring home the U.S. Championship to their family. Sikoa then says everything he is doing is to show Fatu how much he loves him.

Andrade then makes his way down to the ring for the next match of the night.

Undisputed WWE Champion “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes is then shown in his new locker room and there is some food and some wine. R-Truth then shows up and says maybe Rhodes should think about teaming with The Rock. Truth then tells Rhodes not to be shell fish and Rhodes invites Truth to eat more. Truth then tells Rhodes to ask The Rock for some jelly rolls.

Jacob Fatu then makes his way down to the ring for the next match of the night.

WWE United States Championship #1 Contender’s Qualifying Match: “The Samoan Werewolf” Jacob Fatu vs. Andrade

The match starts off with both men locking up. Fatu then charges at Andrade in the corner, but Andrade moves out of the way and Fatu is sent crashing into the corner. Andrade then flies over the top rope to land on Fatu on the outside, then climbs to the top rope and hits a moonsault on Fatu on the outside. Fatu then sends Andrade’s face bouncing off the announce desk, then sends him back in the ring and delivers some right hands on him.

Andrade then hits his signature moonsault on Fatu and pins him, but Fatu kicks out. Andrade then looks to roll up Fatu, but Fatu counters into a senton. Fatu then follows it up with a couple of Hip Attacks and an elevated flatliner, then hits a moonsault on Andrade off the ropes for the win.

We then get video footage from earlier today of The Street Profits speaking with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis. The Street Profits say they won’t stop what they are doing until they get a tag team title shot. Legado Del Fantasma then shows up and Santos Escobar wants an apology for falsely accusing them of attacking The Profits. Dawkins then says they won’t apologize for anything. Aldis then makes The Street Profits vs. Los Garza for later tonight.

Los Garza is already in the ring and The Street Profits are making their way down to the ring for the next match of the night and WWE Tag Team Champions #DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) make their way out to attack them. Los Garza then get involved and The Street Profits come back and stomp mud holes on #DIY. Pretty Deadly then make their way out and attack The Street Profits. Gargano and Ciampa then come back and attack Pretty Deadly. Motor City Machine Guns then make their way out and work over Gargano and Ciampa. MCMG and The Street Profits then face off in the ring, but Los Garza and Pretty Deadly cut both teams off and it was a brawl. MCMG and The Street Profits then get their hands on each other. WWE officials then make their way out and intervene. The brawl continues to ensue until we see Drew McIntyre walking backstage. McIntyre runs into Cody Rhodes and says he doesn’t know what he will do if he was in Rhodes’ position regarding The Rock. McIntyre then tells Rhodes that The Rock will find out he actually sold his soul a long time ago. McIntyre then walks away.

We then get a John Cena Elimination Chamber video vignette, where his entry into the Men’s Elimination Chamber Match is announced. Drew McIntyre then makes his way out and calls for the video package to stop playing. McIntyre then says Cena is the guy who lived long enough to see himself become the hypocrite. McIntyre then stands on the commentary desk and cals out everyone for not talking about Cena over the past few weeks. McIntyre then sits on the table similar to how CM Punk sat during his pipe bomb promo.

McIntyre then says Cena only returns for ego trips and he calls Cena out for the 16-time World Champion’s bald spot. McIntyre then talks about how Cena could politically end a career anytime he wants. McIntyre then says he will bury Cena at the Elimination Chamber. McIntyre then brings up the Toronto Screw Job and Damian Priest’s music hits. Priest then makes his way down to the ring and tells McIntyre it is enough and McIntyre is delusional. McIntyre then says all he does is tell the truth and Priest says R-Truth tells more truth than McIntyre. Priest then talks about how because McIntyre had a weird obsession with Punk he lost his WWE Championship. Priest then calls McIntyre out for looking like Punk in the way he sat and McIntyre says he drops the pipe bombs now. “CM Punk!” chants then break out McIntyre stands up. Priest then says he once dropped McIntyre in the arena they were in and he will do it again if McIntyre just steps through the ropes. Seth Rollins’ music then hits and Rollins makes his way out.

The crowd then sins Rollins’ song as The Visionary steps inside the ring. Rollins thanks Toronto and says he wanted to join the party as Priest and McIntyre are talking about Elimination Chamber. Rollins then calls McIntyre’s MITB cash-in the worst of all time and says he won’t be the same Seth Rollins that hobbled into WrestleMania last year. Rollins then says nobody stands a chance against him in the Elimination Chamber match. CM Punk’s music then hits and Punk makes his way out.

Punk stands at ringside and says is it great to be alive on a Friday in Toronto or what. Loud “CM Punk!” chants then break out. Punk then starts with Rollins and tells him he looks like an oven mitt. Punk then says he has no personal issue with Priest, but Priest could be collateral damage in the Chamber. Punk then says McIntyre and Rollins are obsessed with him, but Punk is obsessed with having his WrestleMania main event. Punk then says McIntyre doesn’t have a soul to sell, while referencing The Rock/Cody Rhodes stuff. Punk then calls out John Cena for how he hasn’t shown up for dates on his retirement tour. Rollins then says Punk will not main event WrestleMania. McIntyre then says he owes Rollins one and he owes Punk one and Priest says after the Chamber all McIntyre will do is complain on the internet. Rollins then says all of Punk’s chants will die along with Punk’s WrestleMania dreams. John Cena’s music then hits and instead of Cena, Logan Paul makes his way out.

Paul says John Cena doesn’t care about Canada as he stood in the entranceway. Paul then says Cena can’t show up because he is a classic celebrity wrestler. Paul then calls out Punk and calls Rollins the peacock of WWE. Paul then says Rollins is wearing curtains. Paul then says McIntyre can’t win a championship just like the Toronto Maple Leafs. Paul then calls Priest irrelevant. Paul then talks about how he slapped Punk on Monday. Punk then makes his way up the entrance ramp and chases Paul away to end the segment.

We then get video footage from the Elimination Chamber Kickoff of the women fighting to set up a 6-Woman Tag Team Match.

Santos Escobar then makes his way down to the ring for the next match of the night and “The Mega Star” LA Knight is already waiting inside.

WWE United States Championship #1 Contender’s Qualifying Match: “The Mega Star” LA Knight vs. Legado Del Fantasma’s Santos Escobar

The match starts off with both men locking up. Knight and Escobar then trade shots in the corner, but Escobar nails Knight with a shoulder tackle. Knight then turns Escobar inside out with a knee on his midsection, then delivers some stomps on him and looks to fly off the top. Escobar then moves out of the way and hits a dropkick on Knight, then sends his head bouncing off the announce desk. Knight then returns the favor and repeatedly sends Escobar’s head bouncing off the announce desk, then catapults him onto the bottom rope.

Escobar then hits an elbow drop on Knight and both men trade strikes with one another. Knight then goes for a pin on Escobar, but Escobar kicks out and Knight hits him with a bodyslam. Knight then follows it up with an elbow drop and delivers some stomps on Escobar in the corner, but Escobar trips Knight and sends him crashing into the bottom turnbuckle face first. Escobar then places Knight on the top rope and joins him up there, then hits a hurricanrana on him off the top rope and goes for a pin and Knight kicks out. Escobar then hits an enzuigiri on Knight from the apron and climbs to the top, then looks to fly. Knight then hits Escobar with a BFT for the win.

Joe Tessitore then says the fans will hear from Kevin Owens before the night is over and Sami Zayn’s music hits and he makes his way down to the ring. Zayn takes his time to soak in some cheers. Zayn then says it will be an understatement to say he and Kevin Owens has been through a lot together. Zayn then says he knows for a fact that Owens is in Toronto tonight and as such he wanted to invite Owens into the ring to stand in front of all their countrymen and say his final peace. Owens’ voice then pops up, but Owens was in the Rogers Centre where the Chamber will be tomorrow.

Owens says tomorrow night will be the biggest match they have ever had against each other. Owens then says he is not the bad guy and everything that happens to Zayn on Saturday will be something Zayn deserves. Owens then says after Saturday when Zayn is stuck to a wheelchair, Zayn needs to know Owens will not help Zayn’s family and Owens will watch Zayn’s family suffer. Zayn then says he’s been nervous all week, but not about what might happen to him but what he’s going to do to Owens. Zayn then says he is nervous that Owens’ parents, wife and kids won’t be able to forgive him after their match. Zayn then says if they don’t forgive him he can live with that because he is prepared to end Owens. Owens then says he will see Zayn tomorrow night and ends the segment.

We then see The Miz and Carmelo Hayes talking backstage and Hayes tells Miz to stay back for his match. Hayes then leaves and Cody Rhodes shows up. Miz asks Rhodes what he is going to do. Miz then says The Rock runs Hollywood. Miz then says the fans doesn’t get it because they see Rhodes as the face of the company, but they both know that there is so much more Rhodes can accomplish. Miz then says the only way Rhodes can get it is if he takes The Rock’s offer. Miz then introduces the idea that someone else could take The Rock’s offer if Rhodes doesn’t.

Braun Strowman then makes his way down to the ring for the next match of the night and Carmelo Hayes follows.

WWE United States Championship #1 Contender’s Qualifying Match: Carmelo Hayes vs. “The Monster Of All Monsters” Braun Strowman

The match starts off with Braun Strowman sending Carmelo Hayes into the corner. Strowman then hits Hayes with a shoulder tackle on the outside, then sends Hayes back inside the ring. Tama Tonga then makes his way down to the ring and hops up on the apron, allowing Solo Sikoa to sneak up behind Strowman. Sikoa then hits Strowman with the chair, but Strowman stays standing and grabs the chair. Strowman then hits Sikoa with it and tosses Tama over the announce desk. Hayes then pulls an Eddie Guerrero and hits the chair on the canvas while the referee has his back turned. Hayes pretends that Strowman hit him with the chair and believing him, the referee declares him as the winner of the match.

After the match, an enraged Strowman powerbombs Tama Tonga in the middle of the ring.

Bayley, Bianca Belair and Naomi are then shown talking in the locker room. Belair says may the best woman win at the Chamber. All three women then walked towards the ring for the next match of the night.

Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez then make their way down to the ring for the next match of the night and Bayley, Naomi and Bianca Belair follow.

6-Woman Tag Team Match: The Judgment Day (WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez) and “The Prodigy” Roxanne Perez vs. Bayley, Naomi and “The EST Of WWE” Bianca Belair

The match starts off with Liv Morgan and Naomi. Both men deliver some right hands on one another. Naomi then hits a dropkick on Morgan in the corner, but Morgan rolls out of the ring for a breather. All six women then begin brawling with each other and Morgan hits a kick on Naomi. Naomi then responds with a kick on Morgan’s head, then tags in Bayley. Bayley then hits dives on Morgan and through the middle rope on opposite sides of the ring.

Morgan then tags in, but Bayley trips her and rolls her up. Morgan then kicks out, then tags in Rodriguez. Bayley then sends Rodriguez crashing into the mat face first, then tags in Belair. Belair then sends Rodriguez into the corner and hits a shoulder on her midsection. Belair then hits a vertical suplex on Rodriguez and follows it up with a springboard moonsault, then goes for a pin but Rodriguez kicks out. Naomi then tags in and looks to hit a springboard moonsault on Rodriguez, but Rodriguez intercepts Naomi and sends her crashing into the top rope. Perez then tags in and Naomi sends her crashing into the mat.

Bayley then tags in and climbs to the top rope, then hits an elbow drop on Perez and goes for a pin. Morgan then breaks the fall, but Perez tags herself in and hits the Pop Rox on Bayley for the win.

The winners of the 6-Woman Tag Team Match, The Judgment Day (WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez) and “The Prodigy” Roxanne Perez!

After the match, Roxanne Perez looks at the WrestleMania sign. Alexa Bliss then shows up and hits the Sister Abigail on Perez. Wyatt Sicks imagery then flashes on the screen.

We then head to the back, where Byron Saxton is interviewing Charlotte Flair. Saxton asks Flair about Tiffany’s tag match at Elimination Chamber and Flair says her team is cute, but once the smoke clears Tiffany will have a bigger problem to deal with and that problem will be her. Flair then says “Woooo!!!” to end the segment.

We then get a Shinsuke Nakamura video vignette with subtitles. Nakamura says a dog is satisfied with the scraps that fall from his master’s table. Nakamura then says if you feel the need to fight for the opportunity to be humiliated by an honorable champion, then he will allow it. Nakamura then says whoever comes out of this will be made into an example. Nakamura then says the other dogs will see what happens when you bite his hand. Nakamura then says nothing but hell awaits the winner.

We then see Solo Sikoa firing up Jacob Fatu, while Tama Tonga stands by. Jacob Fatu then cuts a promo, while he was making his way towards the ring for the main event of the night and says the U.S. Championship is coming to him. Fatu then yells “Hit my music!” as he makes his way through Gorilla. Fatu then makes his way down to the ring for the main event of the night.

Carmelo Hayes then makes his way down to the ring for the main event of the night and Braun Strowman follows.

WWE United States Championship #1 Contender’s Triple Threat Match: “The Samoan Werewolf” Jacob Fatu vs. Carmelo Hayes vs. “The Mega Star” LA Knight

The match starts off with LA Knight going straight after Jacob Fatu. Carmelo Hayes then delivers some right hands on Knight’s spine, but Fatu hits some stomps on Knight in the corner. Knight then flies off the middle rope to send Fatu crashing into the mat face first, but Fatu quickly recovers and sends both Knight into the barricades near the timekeeper’s area. Fatu then sends Hayes crashing into Knight and charges at Knight and Hayes, but they both move out of the ring and Fatu is sent crashing into the barricade.

Hayes then nails Knight, then flies over the top rope from the apron to land on him. Knight then hits a knee on Hayes’ midsection, then follows it up with a back body drop and knocks Fatu off the apron. Fatu then hits some splashes on Hayes and Knight in two of the corners before he sends Hayes across the ring and hits a Hip Attack on Knight in the corner. Fatu then hits a headbutt on Knight and sends Hayes across the ring, then sends Knight crashing into the top rope midsection first and looks to hit a Hip Attack on Knight. Knight then avoids it, but Fatu nails Hayes with a superkick and looks to hit a senton on him.

Hayes then rolls out of the way and hits a springboard DDT on Fatu, but Fatu quickly recovers and nails Hayes with a Samoan Drop. Knight then sends Fatu crashing into the mat and pins him, but Fatu kicks out. Knight then sends Hayes crashing into Fatu on the outside when he pushes him off the ropes, but Fatu catches Hayes and sends him crashing into the ring steps. Knight then hits a crossbody that sends Fatu crashing into the announce desk, but Fatu responds with an elevated flatliner on Hayes and follows it up with his signature moonsault. Knight then pulls Fatu out of the ring and pins Hayes for the win.

We then see Cody Rhodes walking backstage and he runs into CM Punk. Punk says he wants your soul with a laugh. Punk then asks Rhodes what that is about. Rhodes then says he doesn’t know. Punk then says Rhodes is on top of the world and wonders what Rock could possibly offer him. Punk then asks Rhodes what his young self would have done. Punk then says his young self would have taken it in a heartbeat. Punk then says he would have main evented WrestleMania and been the biggest star in the world. Punk then says he is wise enough to know that he is happy that offer never came to him. Punk then says he has no love for The Rock, but he would like to see Rhodes take the offer. Rhodes is surprised. Punk then explains that he wants Rhodes to take the offer and shine it up real good, turn it sideways and shove it right up The Rock’s part-time Hollywood candy ass. Punk then says Rhodes got here because he followed his instincts and his heart. Punk then tells Rhodes he wasn’t trying to influence him. Punk then says he is going to win the Elimination Chamber and then he will see Rhodes in the main event of WrestleMania.

Joe Tessitore then hypes Michael Cole interviewing Cody Rhodes up next.

Michael Cole is standing in the ring and he introduces Cody Rhodes and Rhodes makes his way down to the ring. Rhodes then shakes Cole’s hand and hugs him. Cole says there is a lot to talk. “Cody!” chants then breaks out. Cole then says Rhodes will have to make a decision on if he will sell out to The Rock. Cole then says the Cody Rhodes he knew will never take the offer and talks about how Rhodes finished his story last year. Cole then says Rhodes is living up to the legacy of his father. Rhodes then starts to talk and Cole says Rhodes is trying to deflect. Cole then says Rhodes could be the Corporate Champion and Rock could give Rhodes a seat on the TKO board. Cole then says no more live events in small towns and Rhodes could get rid of his bus and be home with his wife and daughter.

Cole then stops himself from talking and says he is being told there is a special gift for Rhodes. A Ford truck then drives its way into the entranceway. A video of The Rock in his similar truck is then shown on the big screen. The Rock then tells Rhodes he will make the decision of a lifetime. The Rock then says Rhodes will do the right thing. The Rock then tells Rhodes he should enjoy his gift because he knows Rhodes likes driving in the open, dangerous, beautiful and dusty road. The Rock then says he’s been talking to Rhodes’ daddy all week and he references Sturgill Simpson.

The Rock then says he and Rhodes will embrace as brothers and Rhodes will give Rock his soul at the Chamber. The Rock then reiterates that all of Rhodes’ dreams can come true. The Rock then reveals a weight belt that has “Cody’s Soul” written on it with the date of Dusty’s death written on it as well. The Rock then says he wants Rhodes to make The Rock embrace him as his champion. The Rock then says I love you brother and The Rock’s video ends. Rhodes then looks conflicted and the credits is shown as the show comes to a close.
