The Wyatt Sicks almost ended up starring in their own sitcom. Not the kind with cheesy jokes and a happy ending, though.
Joe Gacy has revealed that one of the group’s favorite ideas involved turning the Wyatt Sicks into a deeply unsettling television family inspired by WandaVision—complete with laugh tracks, awkward family moments and increasingly disturbing scenes that would have unfolded week after week. It never made it to WWE television.
Speaking with Casa D-18 Studios, Gacy pulled back the curtain on one of the faction’s biggest scrapped concepts, explaining that the group was constantly pitching ideas designed to give the Wyatt Sicks more personality outside of wrestling matches.
“We had ideas. We had ideas every week. Every week we gave them something.”
One thing the group agreed on from the beginning was that they didn’t want to chase Bray Wyatt’s past by simply recreating the Firefly Fun House. They wanted something that belonged to them.
“One of the big things we talked early on was we never… I mean, I think eventually we could have gotten there, but we never wanted to recreate the Firefly Fun House.”
Instead, they landed on an idea inspired by Marvel. Specifically, WandaVision. Gacy explained that the Wyatt Sicks would have lived together as one strange, dysfunctional family inside a bizarre sitcom that slowly became darker and more unsettling as it went along. He even painted a picture of what those episodes would have looked like.
“But we had this idea of doing segments that would be our version of that… Have you ever watched, like, WandaVision?… We had this idea where we would, you know, be in our own sitcom, but it would be very weird. Like something where… me and Nikki are on the floor playing with toys and Dexter’s doing whatever he’s doing, and we’re just in a living room living like a family. And Rowan comes in from work or whatever. And it’s like we have laugh tracks, but it’s, like, real awkward and creepy… and weird things happen, kind of like how they did in WandaVision and stuff like that.”
Unfortunately for the group, WWE never signed off on the concept: “That was something we pitched early on that never, unfortunately, came to fruition.” That wasn’t the only idea left on the cutting room floor.
“We had another idea of just doing vignettes of us traveling in, like, a Winnebago together… Basically being like, you know, House of 1000 Corpses family. Stuff like that, just to give us a little bit more depth and develop us a little more and show… that we were a family and give reasons on why we were in this group and things like that.”
