Rusev might be gearing up for a major fight—and it’s one fans have seen before.

According to PWInsider, WWE is reportedly planning a full-blown program between Rusev and Sheamus on the Raw brand. The move follows Rusev’s surprise return to WWE in April 2025 after spending several years wrestling as Miro in AEW. He’s now back in action and officially part of Monday Night Raw.

Rusev made his return on the April 21 episode, blindsiding Alpha Academy and instantly making an impact. Since then, it’s been confirmed that Rusev signed a new two-year deal with WWE, and he’s already set to wrestle Akira Tozawa on the May 26 edition of Raw. His real-life wife, CJ Perry (formerly known as Lana), also signed a WWE Legends contract, adding even more intrigue to his renewed run.

Sheamus, meanwhile, has also been back in the mix on Raw after returning from injury earlier this year. He recently signed a new five-year WWE contract and remains one of the company’s most battle-tested stars.

The idea of pitting Rusev and Sheamus against each other again isn’t random. These two have serious history. Rusev defeated Sheamus to win his first WWE championship—the United States Title—on November 3, 2014, in a WWE Network-exclusive match. The feud was intense, hard-hitting, and physical, everything fans love about heavyweight clashes.

They later aligned as part of The League of Nations with Alberto Del Rio and King Barrett from late 2015 to April 2016. That faction served as regular foils to Roman Reigns and competed in several big-time tag matches before being quietly disbanded.

Now, nearly a decade later, WWE appears ready to revisit the Rusev-Sheamus dynamic with fresh momentum behind both men.

Is WWE smart to run it back between Rusev and Sheamus, or should Rusev be pushed into something totally new? Drop your take in the comments and let us know how you’d book his return run.
