Johnny Gargano vs Adam Cole – 2 out of 3 Falls NXT Title Match

Adam Cole was way more over than Gargano in Brooklyn.

They started off by feeling each other out and quickly got to work with one counter after another for a bit. Then Gargano hit an armdrag to slow it down a little bit.

Eventually, Gargano clotheslined Cole outside and Adam avoided a knee off the apron at first, but then he hit a dropkick on Cole on the other side. Gargano threw Cole back in and he rolled to the other side of the ring to create more separation. Cole then chopped Gargano down in the corner and delivered some knee shots.

Johnny fought out of a rear chinlock and then they both went for cross-body blocks at the same time to take each other out. They traded shots and Gargano nailed a belly to belly before the two traded nearfall roll-up pins.

Cole kicked out at two after a sling-shot spear from Gargano. Cole and Johnny kept besting each other around every turn in this match. Suddenly, Cole scored a pinfall on Gargano after hitting a Last Shot.

Winner of 1st Fall – Adam Cole

Cole tried to get a jump on Gargano and hit another Last Shot, but Gargano kicked out of that one. Gargano got Cole on the outside and hit him with a senton.

They soon ended up on the top rope and Johnny hit Tommaso’s top rope move on Cole for a two count. They carried on and Gargano hit a slingshot DDT on Cole to take both of them out as the crown chanted: “Mama Mia!”

Gargano broke up the referee’s 10 count and then Cole shoved him into the ring post a couple of times.

After wrestling him around, Gargano locked on the Gargano Escape and Adam Cole tapped out immediately.

Winner of 2nd Fall – Johnny Gargano

This fall started with a hockey fight before Cole landed a devastating neckbreaker which busted Gargano open the hard way right above his eyebrow. He was bleeding so the referee put on the black gloves.

Gargano nailed a kick and then lawn darted Cole into the 2nd turnbuckle for a two count. Then they started trading shots from their knees and they soon moved to their feet where they kicked each other at the same time as well.

Huge “NXT” chants broke out as they got back to their feet. “Both these guys” chants were there too.

Cole landed a kick to the back of the head followed by a straight jacket German suplex for a very close two count. Gargano nailed a reverse spikerana and a superkick, but Cole rolled out of the ring.

Then Gargano went outside and Cole sent Gargano flying with a wheelbarrow suplex into the LED board on the side of the ring. Suddenly, Gargano hit two DDTs on Cole for another two count. Cole went out of the ring and Gargano hit another suicide dive.

Then Cole nailed a Canadian destroyer for a two count. The crowd was insanely loud right now. Gargano rolled to the apron and Cole kicked him to the floor.

Cole called Gargano a failure and slapped him before Gargano came back with a forearm and sent Cole over the announce table and Adam nailed a Fairy Tale Ending on Gargano on the table and the table did not break or give one bit. Gargano looked out of it.

The referee started counting and Gargano barley made it back before eating a superkick before getting in Gargano’s face.

Suddenly, Gargano locked in another Gargano Escape and Cole couldn’t get to the ropes. He tapped out and it was all over.

Winner: Johnny Gargano

After the match, Candice LeRae ran down to celebrate with her husband. There were all smiles at the end of this one. Tommaso Ciampa came out and hugged Johnny while all three posed together with Gargano and had another group hug.
