Tonight’s WWE NXT airing May 20, 2025, promises an action-packed night live from the Capitol Wrestling Center (WWE Performance Center) in Orlando, Florida. The WWE NXT Battleground go-home show sees TNA World Champion Joe Hendry live in concert. Plus, Trick Williams gives a rap performance.

WWE NXT Results (5/20/25): Live Match Updates and Highlights

The show opens up with Vic Joseph, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T and Corey Graves welcoming us. WWE NXT North American Champion Ricky Saints then makes his way down to the ring and joins the commentary desk for the first match of the night.

Je’Von Evans, Sean Legacy and Ashante Adonis then make their way down to the ring for the first match of the night.

Triple Threat Match: Ashante “Thee” Adonis vs. “The Young OG” Je’Von Evans vs. “Super” Sean Legacy

The match starts off with Adonis delivering some right hands and stomps on Legacy in the corner. Legacy then rolls up Evans, but Evans kicks out and hits a back body drop on Adonis as Evans has a waist lock cinched in on him. Evans then looks to fly, but Legacy transitions into a roll-up and Evans kicks out. Legacy then dropkicks Evans out of the ring to join Adonis, but Adonis slides back in the ring and nails Legacy. Evans then sends Adonis crashing into the ring apron face first and flies to land on him on the outside. Adonis then delivers some right hands on Evans back inside the ring, but Legacy hits some chops on Adonis.

Adonis then sends Legacy into the corner, then delivers some shoulders on Legacy and Evans in opposite corners. Adonis then hits a DDT on Legacy, then hits a spinebuster on Evans on top of Legacy and pins both men. Evans and Legacy then both kick out and Adonis looks to hit the Sweet Chin Music on Legacy. Legacy then catches Adonis’ boot, but Evans sends Legacy crashing out of the ring with an enzuigiri. Legacy then responds with a Spanish Fly on Evans, but Evans sends him crashing off the top rope with a hurricanrana. Adonis then sends Evans out of the ring and pins Legacy, but Evans slides back inside to break the fall.

Adonis then nails Evans with a DDT, but Evans hits Legacy with an OG Cutter. He then sends Adonis crashing into the mat, but Evans hits a 450 Splash on Adonis and goes for a pin and Legacy breaks the fall. Ethan Page then blindsides Saints at the announce desk, but security pulls them apart. Evans then flies out of the ring to land on Page, Saints and the security. Legacy then takes advantage and sends him crashing into the mat with a lifting double underhook neckbreaker for the win.

We then head to the back to NXT General Manager Ava’s office, where Stevie Turner says she is excited for Legacy’s win while Ava tells her and Stone to go deal with the Page and Saints brawl. Ava then welcomes WWE LFG winners Tyra Mae Steele and Jasper Troy and says they will make their debuts in the next few weeks. Ava then collects their contracts. Tyra Mae Steele says she is excited and Jasper Troy says he is making an impact starting tonight.

We then get a video vignette on Jordynne Grace. Grace talks about how she, Stephanie Vaquer and Giulia all came to NXT to win gold and now Giulia is gone and she and Stephanie have each other. Grace then says they both dominated their territories and Stephanie escaped with her NXT Women’s Title once, but that won’t happen again.

We then head to the back, where Lola Vice tells Stephanie Vaquer that she has her money on her. Vaquer then walks away and Fallon Henley and Jacy Jayne walk up, mocking her for sucking up to the champion. Lola then says they can’t stop getting in each other’s way and Jacy and Fallon snipe at each other until Jacy baits Fallon into getting a match with Lola.

Trick Williams’ music then hits and he makes his way down to the ring. Williams says he is going to call Joe Hendry what his mama calls him and that is Average Joe. Williams then starts his rap performance and the chorus focuses on the fact that he’s not backing down to an Average Joe. Joe Hendry is shown in the back and he says the gloves are off.

We then see Josh Briggs being asked by Kelly Kincaid about facing Shawn Spears solo tonight and he sends a message to Yoshiki Inamura that things aren’t as fun without him before he heads out for the match. Shawn Spears then makes his way down to the ring for the next match of the night.

Singles Match: Josh Briggs vs. The Culling’s Shawn Spears

The match starts off with both men locking up. Briggs then hits a strike on Spears, then nails him with a flying back elbow and a bodyslam. Briggs then sends Spears crashing into the apron face first, but Spears sends Briggs crashing into the ring post and sends him back in the ring.

Briggs then hits a splash on Spears, but Spears responds with an arm drag on Briggs. Briggs then sends Spears crashing into the announce desk face first and an interfering Niko Vance crashing into the ring steps, but Izzi Dame nails Briggs while Brooks Jensen distracts the referee. This then opens the door for Spears to roll up Briggs for the win.

After the match, The Culling continues to beat down Briggs. Hank Walker and Tank Ledger then make their way out and come to Briggs’ aid.

We then head to the back, where Kelani Jordan says that if she beats ZARIA she gets a title shot on Sunday. Sol Ruca then says she is keeping her word. Jordan then questions it and ZARIA says Ruca is a woman of her word, but she won’t make it to Battleground.

We then see that Uriah Conners and Kale Dixon are ready for their match and they are shown walking backstage with Andre Chase.

We then see Tatum Paxley sitting in the corner and looking sad until Thea Hail shows up with an eye patch and asks what last week was about. She says she will bounce back. Tatum then says she doesn’t understand what it means to lose everyone. Thea then agrees to disagree and tries to reach out, but Jaida charges in and hits Thea with a knee. She then tells Thea to worry about herself and tells Tatum that in a way she does understand. Tatum then says “Really?” and Jaida says “Hell no!”

Chase U then make their way down to the ring for the next match of the night and OTM follows.

Tag Team Match: Chase U (Kale Dixon and Uriah Connors) vs. OTM (Bronco Lima and Lucien Price)

The match starts off with Bronco Nima and Uriah Connors and Nima sends Connors into the mat. Kale Dixon and Lucien Price then tag in and Dixon delivers some right hands on Price. Dixon then follows it up with a DDT and tags in Connors.

Price then hits a back body drop on Connors and tags in Nima. Dixon then nails Nima with a superkick and Connors sends him crashing into the mat. Price then tags in and sends Connors crashing into Dixon. OTM then double teams on Connors with a double Alabama Slam for the win.

We then see WWE NXT Champion Oba Femi and Myles Borne walking in the backstage area.

Myles Borne then makes his way down to the ring and WWE NXT Champion Oba Femi follows. Femi starts off by saying he can’t tell if Borne is stupid or brave, but it’s gotten him this far. Femi then says it’s his understanding that Borne is fighting for more than the NXT Championship at Battleground and while he finds it admirable that Borne is fighting for those who have disabilities, it can be misleading. Femi then says when Borne steps into the ring with him at Battleground, his dream will die. Femi then tells Borne to join the list of people he has taken out and things will end in the hands of him.

Borne then says he may be in the ring with Femi alone, but he’s not alone. Borne then says he has been training with No Quarter Catch Crew and has created a community for every child who feels different and kids who don’t fit in. Borne then says Femi can underestimate him, but he wouldn’t be the first to do so. Borne then says nurses, doctors, opponents and coaches have underestimated him and he has been surviving battles since he has been born. Borne then says he might be hard of hearing, but when he shocks the world at Battleground fans will hear that three count loud and clear.

Jasper Troy then blindsides Femi from behind and attacks him, but Borne comes to Femi’s aid. Borne then looks to help Femi up, but Femi refuses to accept Borne’s help. Femi then holds up the NXT Championship as he stares down Borne.

Lola Vice then makes her way down to the ring for the next match of the night.

We then head to the back to NXT General Manager Ava’s office. Ava tells WWE NXT North American Champion Ricky Saints and Ethan Page to sit down. Saints says if their match is not tonight, then he will destroy Page. Page then says Saints won’t get a match with him and Saints offers to put the title on the line. Page then asks where he signs up for the match. Ava then says she makes the matches, not them. Ava then says Legacy has a title match, but she makes the rules so she is making an exception. Ava then says next week they fight for the title.

We then get a video vignette on Tony D’Angelo. D’Angelo says the worst thing about betrayal is when it comes from family. D’Angelo then says he tried to understand why Stacks did what he did, but he can’t. D’Angelo then says Stacks was tough as nails and demonstrated loyalty to a fault. D’Angelo then says he brought Stacks into NXT and they ruled the Family, but that wasn’t good enough for Stacks and he wanted to be the shot caller. D’Angelo then says he gets it, but Stacks doesn’t get it. D’Angelo then says Stacks only saw what he wanted him to see. D’Angelo then says Stacks is selfish and he’s got guts, but no brains. D’Angelo then says Stacks made his bed and at Battleground he’ll have to lay in it as he will breaks Stacks’ face.

Fatal Influence then make their way down to the ring for the next match of the night.

Singles Match: Lola Vice vs. Fallon Henley

The match starts off with both women locking up. Vice then hits a couple of kicks on Henley’s chest and looks to hit a third one, but Henley catches it. Vice then wears down Henley’s leg with a Knee Bar and cinches in an arm submission on her, but Henley nails Vice with a forearm. Vice then responds with a hurricanrana on Henley, but Henley sends Vice’s head bouncing off the top rope and uses the ring post to nail Vice with a kick.

Henley then hits some kicks on Vice in the corner and jams her boot into her throat, then nails her with a clothesline and goes for a pin. Vice then kicks out, but Henley wears her down with a submission before rolling her up once again. Vice then kicks out, but Henley delivers a couple of elbows on Vice.

Henley and Vice then exchange right hands with one another, but Vice delivers some forearms on Henley’s chest and some kicks on her. Vice then delivers more rapid fire kicks on Henley and looks to cinch in an Armbar on her, but Henley escapes by pinning Vice. Vice then kicks out, but Jacy Jayne gets in her face from the apron. Vice then sends Henley crashing into Jayne and hits the 305 on her for the win.

After the match, there seems to be some dissension between Jacy Jayne and Fallon Henley.

We then head to the back, where Kelly Kincaid is interviewing WWE NXT Women’s Champion Stephanie Vaquer. Kincaid asks Vaquer what her preparation for Battleground has been. Vaquer talks about getting her first tryout in 2018, but she wasn’t ready so she went to Japan and put in the work. Vaquer then says she doesn’t look at it as a sad time in her life as it was necessary to get to where she is now. Vaquer then says being in NXT has been a dream come true. Vaquer then says she remembered knowing she was born to be in WWE when she saw Rey Mysterio. Vaquer then talks about how the late nights in Japan and the early mornings in Mexico have all been worth it. Vaquer then calls Jordynne Grace her toughest challenge. Vaquer then says Grace was at the top in TNA and now she wants to be the top in NXT. Vaquer then says she went through hell to get to the top and made it her home. Vaquer then says Grace conquered companies and she conquered continents. Vaquer then says when Grace gets close to her at Battleground, she will burn in flames.

We then get a video vignette from DarkState. They talk about how it all started with one man who crawled through hellfire so the others don’t get burned. Dion Lennox then talks up Cutler who talks up Osiris, who then talks up Saquon Shugars. Saquon then says when DarkState strikes, nobody is safe.

We then get the entrances for the next match of the night.

Singles Match (If Jordan wins she gets a shot at the WWE NXT Women’s North American Title): ZARIA vs. Kelani Jordan

The match starts off with ZARIA hitting a couple of German suplexes on Jordan. ZARIA then sends Jordan crashing into the mat with a hip toss, but Jordan flies over the top rope to land on Zaria on the outside and sends her crashing into the ring steps. Jordan then sends ZARIA back in the ring, then climbs to the top rope and hits a crossbody. Jordan then goes for a pin, but ZARIA kicks out.

Jordan then looks to hit a crossbody on ZARIA, but ZARIA rolls through. Jordan then cinches in a sleeper on ZARIA, but ZARIA fights her off by sending her crashing into the corner. Jordan then sends ZARIA’s head bouncing off her knee, then looks to fly off the apron. ZARIA then catches Jordan and sends her crashing into the barricade shoulder first, then sends her crashing into the ring apron spine first and sends her back in the ring.

ZARIA then continues wearing down Jordan, then drags her up the ropes and sends her crashing off of them. Jordan then sends ZARIA crashing off the apron with a kick, then dropkicks Ruca and ZARIA from behind as they are both on the outside. Ruca then gets in Jordan’s face, but ZARIA accidentally spears Ruca when aiming for Jordan. Jordan then rolls up ZARIA for the win.

Commentary then runs down the WWE NXT Battleground card.

TNA World Champion Joe Hendry then makes his way down to the ring and begins playing his guitar as he takes shots at Trick Williams through a song to return the favor from Williams earlier tonight. Williams then interrupts Hendry and nails him with a forearm, then hits him with a spinning pump kick and charges at Hendry. Hendry then hits Williams in the leg with his guitar, then sends him crashing into the mat with a chokeslam and stands tall holding up the TNA World Championship as the show comes to a close.
