Kane’s time running Knox County is over. After eight years in office, the former WWE Champion has finished his second and final term as mayor.
Glenn Jacobs was first elected Knox County mayor in 2018 and won another four-year term in 2022. Term limits blocked him from seeking a third consecutive term, bringing his run to an end after two full terms.
Jacobs addressed his exit in an official farewell video. He said the real measure of his time in office is whether Knox County is better now than it was when he took over eight years ago.
“Ultimately, the measure of the mayor is: Did you leave your community in a better place than when you started? Overall, I feel that is what has happened here.”
Jacobs believes the county improved during his two terms, but he didn’t take all the credit. He thanked the community for allowing him to serve and pointed to the work done together during his administration.
“Knox County was already the best place to live, work and raise a family. I hope, working together, we’ve made it even better than it was eight years ago. Thank you for allowing me the privilege to be a small part of that.”
Jacobs listed not raising taxes, Operation Heroes, the START Center, school initiatives and downtown projects among the biggest accomplishments of his time in office.
As for what comes next, Jacobs hasn’t committed to another political run. He said any future campaign would have to be the right decision for his family because serving as Knox County mayor required a major commitment.
Jacobs spent nearly a decade handling county business after years of destroying opponents as Kane in WWE. Now the eight-year political gig is finished, and he’s walking away from the mayor’s office with his next move still up in the air.
