The July 24 episode of WWE SmackDown went down in the Oakland Arena in Oakland, California. The end of the night included an intense match with SummerSlam implications.

Sami Zayn wasn’t happy at all about how his 9-day reign as Undisputed WWE Champion went. CM Punk is now the champion with a match against Cody Rhodes at the biggest party of the summer, but Zayn has a match after all.

During SmackDown this week, it was revealed that Sami Zayn will compete in a #1 contender match at SummerSlam. His opponent was determined in a fatal four-way match this week.

Royce Keys, Damian Priest, Trick Williams, and Finn Balor threw down in the main event, with the winner getting a #1 contender match against Sami Zayn at SummerSlam. Everyone in this match had a chance to get their spots in, and there were several near falls along the way.

Solo Sikoa walked down to the ring so he could get a closer look. This caused a bit of a distraction as he stood in Royce Keys’ corner. The Usos came down to deal with Solo Sikoa after that, and then LA Knight ran down to join the brawl.

Finn Balor almost hit a Coup De Gras on Trick Williams, who nailed a Trick Shot for a near fall in return. The match continued to its closing moments as Damian Priest got back into the fold. Keys hit an Ultimate Spine Buster, but Jacob Fatu wouldn’t let him get the pin. After that, Finn Balor hit a sling blade, a shotgun dropkick, and a Coup De Gras on Damian Priest to win the match and get his spot in the #1 contender’s match.
