Dragon Lee may have lost his match against Dominik Mysterio at AAA Héroes Inmortales—but he might’ve walked away with something even bigger in motion.
PWInsider reports that WWE officials were very impressed with Dragon Lee’s performance during the AAA Mega Championship bout and are now pushing to lock him into a new deal before his current contract expires next year. It’s not hard to see why. Lee and Dominik tore it up in Mexico, and even in defeat, Lee’s stock rose with fans and management alike.
Lee originally signed with WWE in 2022, and after some up-and-down months, he’s been on a roll lately. Just last week, he captured the WWE Tag Team Championships alongside AJ Styles on Raw—a massive boost for his momentum. But it’s his international performance against Dom Mysterio that’s really reigniting interest in his long-term future with the company.
Sources inside WWE believe that Lee is becoming an essential part of regular programming, and there’s internal talk that now’s the time to secure him before outside offers start rolling in.
Dragon Lee may not have walked out of AAA Héroes Inmortales with gold, but he definitely walked out with attention. WWE sees him as a player to watch—and they’re not waiting until the eleventh hour to show it.
