WrestleMania is still WWE’s biggest event of the year, but the numbers show this year’s trip back to Las Vegas didn’t come close to matching the record-breaking success of 2025.

According to Wrestlenomics, data obtained from Pollstar shows WrestleMania 42 generated $36,000,093 in ticket revenue across both nights at Allegiant Stadium on April 18 and 19. Night One, headlined by Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton, sold 42,215 tickets and brought in $17,441,679, while Night Two, headlined by CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns, sold 48,158 tickets for a gate of $18,558,414.

Those numbers represent a major decline from WrestleMania 41, which was also held at Allegiant Stadium the previous year. The 2025 event sold 113,412 tickets and generated $66,074,558 over two nights. That means WrestleMania 42 was down roughly 20% in tickets sold and 45.5% in gate revenue year over year.

The drop came after WWE made the unusual decision to return to Las Vegas for a second straight WrestleMania. The company had originally announced WrestleMania 42 for New Orleans before reversing course and bringing the event back to Nevada. WWE still received plenty of financial support for the move, including a $6 million site fee from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and $4.3 million in tax credits, both higher than the incentives offered in 2025.

Back in April, Nick Khan admitted during an internal town hall that running WrestleMania in Las Vegas two years in a row may not have been the right call. While he described the event as successful overall, he acknowledged the back-to-back strategy was ultimately his decision and suggested it probably wouldn’t be repeated.

Despite the decline, WrestleMania 42 still ranks among the biggest events in company history. Wrestlenomics notes that, after adjusting for inflation, Night Two ranks as the sixth-highest grossing WrestleMania gate ever, while Night One ranks ninth. Both, however, trail the record-setting gates established by WrestleMania 41.

With WrestleMania 43 currently scheduled for Saudi Arabia in April 2027, it’ll be interesting to see whether WWE can rebound from this year’s decline or if the 2025 Las Vegas event ends up standing as the company’s financial high-water mark for years to come.
