Will Ospreay is about to main event Wembley Stadium, and he couldn’t resist pointing out one very famous wrestler who never did it: The Rock.
During an appearance on ITV’s Good Morning Britain alongside comedian Jack Whitehall, the conversation somehow made its way to Dwayne Johnson. Whitehall immediately joked that they probably shouldn’t even be talking about him.
“We’re not meant to talk about him because, obviously, he works for the other side.”
The presenter knew exactly which “other side” he meant, as they asked, “For WWE?” That was all Ospreay needed as the Aerial Assassin took a shot at The Rock for never main eventing Wembley Stadium in his career.
“Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s never main evented Wembley Stadium.”
The timing makes it even better. Ospreay is set to challenge Kenny Omega for the AEW World Championship in the main event of All In at Wembley Stadium this weekend. So when he walks out there, he’ll officially be able to say he did something The Rock never did.
Apparently Cena wasn’t enough either. Ospreay recently told SHAK Wrestling that he had “beat John Cena” after returning from neck surgery faster than expected. Doctors originally gave him a six-to-nine-month recovery window following surgery in September. Ospreay made it back in five months and three weeks.
“I was able to do it in five months and three weeks, and so in that case I beat John Cena. Do you know what I mean? I’ve done it.”
Getting back for All In was actually one of the biggest things pushing Ospreay through rehab. Now he’s made it, he’s challenging Omega for the biggest title in AEW, and he apparently decided to celebrate by adding another WWE legend to his list. First Cena and now The Rock. Ospreay hasn’t wrestled either man, but he’s still finding categories where he can claim the scoreboard.
