Will Ospreay and Callum Newman have a serious problem on their hands after things got ugly at NJPW King of Pro-Wrestling.

Ospreay teamed with Great-O-Khan and HENARE as United Empire defended the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Championships against Unbound Co’s Yuto-Ice, OSKAR and Jeff Cobb, but the night ended with United Empire losing the belts.

Ospreay had a major gripe with how everything went down. During the match, he appeared to have Ice beaten with a visual pinfall, but the referee was late getting into position after being taken out. That missed count ended up becoming a huge talking point once the match was over.

Then things got personal. Callum Newman attacked OSKAR after the bell, but Ospreay stepped in and stopped him from going any further. Newman responded by swinging a sword at his mentor, forcing Ospreay to duck before standing his ground and daring Newman to actually cut him.

Newman did not follow through and eventually walked away, but the tension between the two was impossible to ignore. Ospreay then shifted gears and went straight after another championship opportunity. The AEW World Champion argued that because he had Ice pinned during the match, he deserved a shot at the Knockout Brothers’ IWGP Tag Team Championships at NJPW Power Struggle.

Ice agreed to the match, but there was a catch that made the whole situation even messier. The champions said they would choose Ospreay’s tag team partner. Their pick was Callum Newman. That means Ospreay and Newman now have to somehow get on the same page after nearly coming to blows just minutes earlier. One moment they were staring each other down over a sword, and the next they were being thrown together for a championship match.

Ospreay wanted a shot at the IWGP Tag Team Titles, and now he has one. The problem is that his biggest obstacle might not be the champions standing across the ring from him. It might be the man standing next to him.

Do you think Will Ospreay and Callum Newman can actually work together long enough to win the IWGP Tag Team Titles at Power Struggle, or is this partnership already doomed? Leave your feedback and let us know what you think.
