Vince Russo’s The Brand Recap – Special Guest Stevie Ray, Cena Buries Corbin, What’s NXT’s Purpose? More!

Lane points out that Justin Barrasso recently reported that John Cena told backstage officials that Baron Corbin ‘isn’t ready’. Gilbertti says he wouldn’t doubt the legitimacy of this story because Cena has stroke backstage, and former WWE employees like Ryback have gone on the record saying that Cena does this type of thing from time to time. Russo believes this circles back to the NXT issue that they were previously discussing. There’s no way that guys like Corbin should be leaving NXT if they ‘aren’t ready’, when talents like Joe and Roode sit down there for over a year.

Lane mentions that Sasha Banks received some heat from the Brooklyn crowd last week for ignoring fans outside a hotel. Russo says that most of the time you have to give performers the benefit of the doubt, because she simply could have been having a bad day. However, if you’re a WWE Superstar (particularly a babyface) you can’t make this a regular occurrence. This is part of being a professional wrestler.

Gilbertti believes that Enzo Amore’s move to 205 Live was a smart call on WWE’s behalf. 205 Live needed star power and charisma, and Amore delivers that. Russo points out that kids love Amore, so he would be surprised if WWE takes him off of RAW altogether, regardless of how much backstage heat he has.

That sums up today’s episode of Vince Russo’s The Brand. You can listen to the show yourself anytime here, and I’ll catch ya tomorrow for another recap!
