Vince Russo’s The Brand Recap – Ric Flair Tribute, WCW Feud With Flair, One Thing Flair Did for Russo That He’ll Never Forget, More!

Russo points out that Vince McMahon once told him he loved him, and given how Russo felt about McMahon, that probably should have meant more to him but he couldn’t really tell if McMahon legitimately felt that way. Perhaps that was just a way for McMahon to guilt Russo into staying with WWE. He says that nobody calls him anymore, and when you’re out of the wrestling business and you can no longer help anyone, they no longer care about you.

Russo says that when Ric Flair had his podcast last year, he was asked to be a guest on it. He considered that to be a great compliment, but he also decided to ask Flair to return the favour and come on his show as  a guest at some point in the future. Flair agreed, but Russo points out that people agree to things all the time and then refuse to follow up.

Russo assumed weeks would go by and then he’d have to call Flair to follow up, but about an hour after they concluded Flair’s interview, Flair called Russo personally and asked him when he wanted him to come on The Brand as a guest. Russo couldn’t believe it, and he’ll always remember that moment. He considers that to be one of the nicest things anyone has done for him.

Russo says a few years ago he knew when it was time for him to leave the wrestling business, but at 68 years of age Flair still wasn’t meant to leave the wrestling business. He’s been meant to entertain us from the day he was born and that’s exactly what he did. Flair has made so many sacrifices to entertain us over the years, but that’s his calling in life.

That sums up today’s episode of Vince Russo’s The Brand. You can listen to the show yourself here, and I’ll catch ya tomorrow for another recap!
