Vince Russo almost pulled the trigger on one of his most controversial ideas yet in JCW— but even he decided it wasn’t worth the fallout.
Speaking on the Two Man Power Trip podcast on February 21, 2026, Russo revealed he once planned an angle involving an “ICE” figure targeting a wrestler — only for the twist to involve former WCW star Glacier. Russo explained the idea centered around JCW talent Mecha Wolf, who frequently wrestles in Mexico. The concept was designed to spark immediate outrage before flipping the script.
“Can I tell you something I wanted to do with JCW? We’ve got a really good wrestler there who wrestles a lot in Mexico — his name is Mecha Wolf. So, bro, I wanted to do an angle where he’s wrestling and somebody comes out in full riot gear with ‘ICE’ on the back and is trying to grab Mecha Wolf.”
Russo acknowledged he knew exactly how the reaction would unfold — with fans immediately criticizing him.
“And you know how it would go — ‘Oh, Vince Russo is going to get buried. How could he do this? This, that, the other thing.’”
The twist, according to Russo, would have come weeks later with the reveal that the “ICE” figure was actually Glacier — playing on the name rather than referencing immigration authorities in a literal sense.
“Then when ‘ICE’ gets revealed, I wanted it to be Glacier. Would that not have stuck it to everybody? They’d be ripping me to shreds, and then it turns out he’s ‘ICE’ because he’s Glacier.”
However, Russo admitted the idea would never survive long enough to reach that punchline. He believed the backlash would escalate before the payoff could happen.
“But the problem is, it would never be able to go that far without people being up in arms. You’d have to build it for a couple of weeks before doing the reveal. After the first week, people would already be going nuts.”
In the end, Russo said the idea stayed on the drawing board — even though he personally thought the twist would’ve been funny.
“I just thought it would’ve been hysterical — everybody getting offended, and then ‘ICE’ winds up being Glacier. I thought that would be great.”
While the angle never made it to television, Russo’s comments show he’s still thinking in terms of shock value and controversial swerves — even if today’s climate makes those risks harder to execute.
Do you think this angle would’ve worked with the Glacier twist, or would the backlash have been too big to overcome? Sound off in the comments.
