Vince McMahon Tried to Give Dave Chappelle Tips on Improving His Show

Vince McMahon is one of the most controversial figures in professional wrestling, known for his approach both in and out of the industry that borderlines insanity for many people. Unsurprisingly, it appears he once even criticized Dave Chappelle’s shows for their production quality while attending a show.

While speaking on the Kliq This podcast, Kevin Nash shared a story about Vince McMahon attending a Dave Chappelle show along with Triple H and Ari Emanuel. According to Nash, the person who told him the story mentioned that Vince McMahon couldn’t sit still during the performance and kept looking around.

After the show, they had the opportunity to go backstage and talk to Chappelle. While everyone was engaged in conversation, Vince McMahon decided to criticize Chappelle’s show and asked Chappelle if he could offer a few ideas on how to improve the production aspect of the show. As he watched the performance, he had been analyzing ways to enhance it from a production and visual standpoint.

“A great story I heard—um, it was Hunter, Vince, and I think, uh, Ari. They went to go see Chappelle, and so they’re in the crowd. The person telling me the story says that Vince can’t sit still—he’s looking around.

After the show, they get to go backstage and talk to Chappelle. You know, everybody’s talking, just chatting away. And then Vince—he just looks at him and criticized the show and just says, ‘Do you mind if I, uh, give you a couple of ideas on what might be able to make the production aspect of this a little bit better?’

Like, as he watched the show, he was basically dissecting what would make it better from a production standpoint—the visuals, the effects, all of it.”

Some people might think his criticism was not needed, while others might say his focus on quality helped WWE succeed. Whether Dave Chappelle actually needed advice from Vince McMahon is uncertain, since Chappelle clearly knows what he’s doing. Still, McMahon couldn’t stop himself from giving his opinion since that’s just how McMahon operates in the end.
