Val Venis went looking to give Mike Bailey a follow on Twitter. Instead, he discovered the AEW star had already blocked him—and his response quickly became about a lot more than wrestling.
Venis took to Twitter and uploaded a screenshot showing that he was blocked by Bailey and initially revealed something surprisingly positive: he’d recently watched several of “Speedball’s” AEW matches and came away impressed with Bailey’s work inside the ring. Then he found the block button waiting for him.
“I watched a few matches from this Speedball dude in AEW. This dude impressed me with his in ring abilities(although actual selling should be improved upon). I decided to find speedball on X to give him a follow. Turns out he has me blocked.”
Venis initially assumed Bailey had blocked him because of his controversial political and social-media presence, claiming the AEW star may have bought into what he called “leftists IWC crap.” But after apparently learning that Bailey identifies as non-binary, Venis took the post in a much more personal direction.
“My first thought was he bought into the leftists IWC crap and preemptively blocked me. But apparently that is not the case. He is one of ‘them.’ He declares himself as non binary. It’s clear Jesusphobia is real. The IWC embraces Jesusphobia.”
Venis didn’t provide any evidence that Bailey blocked him because of religion, nor did Bailey publicly explain the reason for the block in the material Venis shared. That didn’t stop Venis from going further. The former WWE star called on his followers to pray for Bailey to abandon their non-binary identity and instead “embrace” being a man.
“Join me in prayer for speedball Mikey to shed the evils of ‘non-binary’and embrace the AWESOMENESS of being a MAN!”
He then went on to describe non-binary identity as the result of what he believes is societal “programming.”
“PS: Its quite sad to see real human beings fall for such delusional programming fed into society from the oligarches downward.”
So what started with Venis wanting to compliment an AEW wrestler he had recently discovered ended with him publicly attacking that wrestler’s identity after realizing he couldn’t follow them. Bailey, meanwhile, didn’t need to respond to Venis to make their position on interacting with him pretty clear. The block was already there.
