Cathy Kelley took a rough hit during the chaos on WWE RAW this week, and now new details are coming out about her future behind the scenes.

During the April 13 episode of RAW, Kelley was interviewing Stephanie Vaquer when Liv Morgan rushed the ring and attacked Vaquer from behind. The fight quickly got out of control, and Vaquer was shoved backward into Kelley, sending her crashing into the turnbuckles. Kelley stayed down while officials broke up the fight and was later helped to the back while limping. WWE later confirmed she would be okay.

As previously reported, Kelley has quietly been preparing for a bigger on-screen role for some time. She took it upon herself to begin in-ring training at the WWE Performance Center last year.

Despite that training, the Fightful Select made it clear that WWE never had firm plans for Kelley to wrestle. Instead, the training was seen as a way to give her more flexibility if a storyline ever called for it.

“We never heard of any specific creative plans for her in WWE from a wrestling capacity.”

The report also noted that Kelley has been looking into opportunities outside WWE as well. That doesn’t mean she’s leaving, but it does mean she has explored options in television and film.

“In addition to her making moves in that regard, I’m told that there were meetings last year regarding Cathy Kelley’s future outside of WWE. Not in the sense that she’s leaving WWE, but that there may be additional television and film opportunities in that regard for her.”

Even with those outside talks, Kelley is said to still enjoy her current role in WWE while keeping her options open.

“Based on what we’re told, Cathy Kelley enjoys her role in WWE, but has also explored additional options.”

After getting caught in the middle of the Liv Morgan and Stephanie Vaquer fight on RAW, this new information adds another layer to Kelley’s situation. With her already training behind the scenes, fans may start wondering if that moment in the ring could lead to something bigger down the road.
