Sami Zayn finally won the big one at WWE Night of Champions, and Triple H made sure to give him his flowers.
Zayn shocked the field in the main event at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, when he defeated Cody Rhodes and GUNTHER in a Triple Threat Match to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion. After years of chasing that top prize, Sami finally got it done.
Following the match, Triple H posted a message on Twitter/X congratulating Zayn and pointed out just how far his journey has gone.
“From underdog to undisputed. Congrats to the NEW @WWE Undisputed Champion @SamiZayn! Never say never.”
Triple H also included photos and video of himself with Sami after the match, with Zayn holding the Undisputed WWE Championship. It was the kind of backstage moment that made the win feel even bigger.
The finish saw Sami roll up Cody Rhodes after chaos broke out between all three men. Cody had hit a double Crossroads on GUNTHER, but Sami was right there to steal the moment and walk out with the title.
This was Zayn’s 10th championship match, and after 25 years in pro wrestling, he finally became the Undisputed WWE Champion. That makes Triple H’s “underdog to undisputed” line hit pretty hard, because that has basically been Sami’s whole WWE story.
