WWE is considering a lot of things at all time. It did appear that Trick Williams was on his way to the WWE main roster, but that may not be the imminent case.

Trick Williams was previously expected to be called up soon, especially after losing an NXT Title match to Ricky Saints at Halloween Havoc. However, Williams appeared on promotional material for the upcoming NXT Deadline event. This suggests that he remains part of NXT plans through the end of the year.

Shawn Michaels updated fans with the new NXT Deadline poster. Trick Williams is featured on the poster along with other NXT talent.

As you know, NXT Deadline is scheduled for December 6, 2025, at the Boeing Center at Tech Port in San Antonio, Texas. So, it’s not likely that he will get called up before then.

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the status of both Trick Williams and Oba Femi. Regarding Trick Williams, Meltzer acknowledged his strengths but noted the risks involved in moving him up too early.

“Well, character wise, he was actually more over before, but I thought that he needed. I, I wouldn’t have rushed him because for Trick, I would have brought him in and wanted to make him a top guy because his promos and charisma are that good. But you don’t want him flawed as a top guy and then put him in like a top guy match and then he’s average. So I thought that the extra year would do him well to, to shore up the one. The weakness that he has.”

Dave Meltzer also spoke about Oba Femi’s position, pointing out that his dominant run in NXT may not translate directly to the main roster.

“Oba Femi. The problem with Oba Femi is, is that in NXT you can be this monster and on the main roster it’s like there’s a lot of big guys and it’s harder — not to say that he can’t make it. But it’s not as easy. It’s not — it won’t be as easy for him because there’s, there’s in NXT, pretty much they let everyone just put him over as a monster. And on the main roster there’s some of those guys that have enough tenure and things like that or, or like, you know, or Randy Orton type of guys where all of a sudden he ain’t going to look like such a monster next to them to where, you know, and are they going to sell for him like he’s a monster? And it’s like, you know, maybe they will. But, but the dynamic changes.”

WWE continues to monitor both Superstars closely, and they obviously want to call them up when it makes sense. We will have to see what’s next for Oba Femi, but Trick Williams may have some unfinished business at Deadline.

We will keep a close eye on this story, because anything can happen at this point. The Royal Rumble is also coming up closer than some may think, and it will provide a great chance for someone to make their main roster debut count. The WWE Royal Rumble 2026 will go down on Saturday, January 31, 2026, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. We will have to see if Trick Williams or Oba Femi are on the main roster by then.
