The tension between Trick Williams and Sami Zayn doesn’t look like it’s cooling down anytime soon. After fans debated whether their recent headbutt exchange on SmackDown got a little too real, Williams has now addressed the moment—and he isn’t backing down.
The two crossed paths during the October 2 edition of SmackDown, where Penta, Je’Von Evans, Trick Williams and Sami Zayn traded shots ahead of Money in the Bank. Things got physical after Zayn headbutted Williams, who immediately fired one right back. The exchange had plenty of fans wondering if there was some legitimate beef between the two and even ended up getting backlash online, with people thinking it was an unprofessional move.
While speaking on Busted Open Radio on October 9, Trick Williams made it clear he still doesn’t see Sami Zayn any differently now that he’s Undisputed WWE Champion.
“Sami Zayn, yes, he’s the WWE Champion, but he’s still the Ginger Bread Man to me. I mean, look, I’m the one who got the U.S. Title off of him in the first place. If he thinks I respect him just because he got a title on his waist, that title makes no man. You’re the man with the title or without it. Williams never sees Sami Zayn any day of the week. There’s no problem if he wants Trick Williams when he gets out there.”
“Look, Bully, he’s lucky it was just a headbutt. I’m gonna leave it there.”
Whether Williams was staying in character or hinting at something more, his comments are only going to lead to more speculation following their exchange on SmackDown. By the looks of it, fans shouldn’t expect this issue between the two to go away anytime soon.
