Trey Miguel has broken his silence after a turbulent week, revealing that his sudden AEW release nearly drove him to walk away from professional wrestling altogether.
In an emotional update on Instagram on January 24, 2026, the former AEW signee and current TNA star shared the mental and emotional toll of being let go, admitting that the setback shattered his confidence and left him feeling unwanted by the industry. According to Miguel, he completely withdrew from his support system after the release and spent over a week ignoring calls and texts, questioning what came next.
“I came very close to quitting. My heart was broken. I felt like wrestling hated me to be quite honest. I hadn’t felt a hurt or a loss like that in a very long time. I didn’t answer calls or texts and I spent a little over a week contemplating what’s next. I felt like my dream died as quickly as it was realized.”
Miguel credited his faith and close circle for helping him find clarity and regain strength when he was on the verge of giving up. His passion for wrestling, Miguel explained, has always been rooted in childhood dreams—not fame or popularity.
“But it’s in moments like this that God will show you how strong you actually are. But if it weren’t for the support system that God has blessed me with, I don’t know if I would have been able to turn that decision around. I’m not everyone’s favorite wrestler. I don’t strive to be. I strive to make a kid’s dreams come true who had a very hard childhood and only ever wanted to be one thing—a pro wrestler.”
Miguel also extended gratitude to TNA Wrestling for welcoming him back just days after his AEW fallout. He closed with love—not just for his supporters, but also for those who may have doubted him.
“Words can’t describe how eternally grateful I am for @tnawrestling for saving this dream for me. And to the ones who encouraged me to stick it out, I will forever be in debt to. If you supported me through this, I love you. If you didn’t, I still love you. There’s no room in my heart for hate. Now with that being said, I have to show the world what I’m made of and I’m just thankful to still have that opportunity.”
Miguel made his official return to TNA during the January 22 episode of TNA iMPACT, entering—and winning—a Feast or Fired briefcase, reigniting his career in dramatic fashion just a week after AEW opted not to move forward with him following internal concerns tied to old resurfaced tweets.
