WWE may have just tipped its hand on Baron Corbin’s future, because a new trademark filing looks directly connected to the former United States Champion.
WWE filed to trademark “The Nomad” for wrestling and entertainment services, and that name is not random. Corbin began using “The Nomad” after leaving WWE in November 2024 and rebranding himself as Bishop Dyer on the independent scene. The filing covers live wrestling appearances, televised performances, online content, fan club services, newsletters, blogs and other sports entertainment uses.
“Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service.”
The timing is hard to ignore. Corbin has been linked to a WWE return for weeks, and his MLW exit angle has now removed another major obstacle.
MLW recently announced that Bishop Dyer had been locked out of the company after negotiations reached a standstill. Rich Bocchini said the relationship between Dyer and MLW had completely broken down.
“For weeks, the question has been, exactly where is Bishop Dyer? I can now confirm this — negotiations between Dyer and Major League Wrestling have officially hit a total standstill.”
MLW then stripped Dyer of his half of the World Tag Team Championship and allowed Donovan Dijak to continue the reign with a replacement partner. Josh Bishop ultimately stepped into that spot.
That move already looked like MLW was clearing Corbin off the board. WWE filing for the exact nickname Corbin adopted after leaving the company makes the comeback signs even harder to dismiss.
Corbin spent 12 years with WWE before his departure in 2024. Since then, he has worked across the independent scene while using the Bishop Dyer name, with “The Nomad” becoming part of his new identity.
Ringside News previously reported that people inside WWE expected Corbin to return, even after he mocked the speculation. Dave Meltzer also stated that a comeback had been heavily discussed, while multiple WWE sources described Corbin as a locker room favorite.
Nothing has been officially announced, but WWE securing “The Nomad” right as Corbin is being written out of MLW looks like a massive clue. The company may be preparing to bring him back with a new version of the character he created outside WWE.
