Tony Schiavone got spit on during AEW Collision, and somehow the jacket might end up being worth more because of it.
During the June 13 episode of AEW Collision, Thekla took a shot at STARDOM, spit on her hand, and claimed her spit had more value than anything in STARDOM. Then she rubbed it right onto Schiavone’s red jacket while he looked absolutely disgusted.
Turns out, Tony didn’t just toss the jacket in the laundry. While speaking on What Happened When, Schiavone said he took the jacket straight to wardrobe after the show and asked if he should get it cleaned. The answer he got was not what he expected.
“Yeah. Well, she spit, and she rubbed it on the jacket, and I immediately took the jacket after the show back to wardrobe and I said, ‘Should I get this thing dry cleaned?’
And he said, ‘No, don’t get it dry cleaned. Take it, autograph it, auction the thing off. It’s got her spit on it.’”
So now, instead of dry-cleaning it, Tony might turn the whole disgusting moment into a collector’s item. He said he had already been thinking about retiring the red jacket anyway, and this may be the perfect excuse.
“So I brought it home with me, and I’ve been wanting to retire that red jacket anyway, and I think that’s what I’m going to do eventually. How about that?”
Conrad Thompson then took the whole thing completely off the rails, joking that since the jacket technically has Thekla’s DNA on it, they could turn it into some kind of Jurassic Park situation.
“Can you imagine when you auction that off? I mean, technically it has Thekla’s DNA on it. So if we get that from Jurassic Park with the funny hat, we could have like a— you know—Jurassic Park, a Thekla… Theklasaurus Rex or something. A VelocaThekla.”
Tony played along: “Yes, we could.” Bottom line, Thekla wanted to make a statement on AEW Collision, and she definitely did. Tony Schiavone may have walked away grossed out, but if that red jacket ends up at auction, the spit spot might be the selling point.
