AEW President Tony Khan spoke with the pro wrestling media on Thursday, October 15, 2026, to promote Saturday’s AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view. Refresh the page for the latest updates.
Tony Khan opened the call with brief comments before taking questions.
Dave Meltzer asked about AEW’s place under the new Skydance structure and whether there have been discussions about distribution. Khan said he has had a lot of conversations with Skydance and David Ellison and is excited about the direction of the company. He said Ellison has been very positive about AEW, but Khan would not discuss specific plans. Khan also spoke positively about Channing Dungey and JB Perrette remaining with the company.
Joel Torres asked whether Khan knew Adam Copeland planned to make 2027 his final year in pro wrestling and also asked for an update on Christian Cage. Khan said he knew about Copeland’s plans and believes he will have a great run. He said he does not know how far into 2027 Copeland plans to wrestle. Khan said Copeland entering Clockwork Carnage made sense with Christian sidelined. He also discussed Christian wrestling through injuries during the ladder match and praised both Christian and the late Ben “Pac” Satterley as important parts of AEW. Khan also noted that Jamie Hayter is currently sidelined with an injury.
Courtney Rice asked about the TBS Championship picture. Khan said he is excited about the division but noted that Maya World is also sidelined with an injury. He praised World for continuing to work through personal pain following the death of her brother. Khan said injuries and Pac’s death forced AEW to make several changes, but he believes the four-way match will still be strong. He also praised the locker room for stepping up during a difficult period.
Khan said Steven Borden is going to be okay and added that AEW likes what it has seen from him. He also praised Hyan for stepping up while Maya World is sidelined and mentioned Dani Luna as another talent getting an opportunity.
Carlos Aguilar brought up Adam Copeland saying he has crossed off every venue he wanted to work in except the Tokyo Dome and asked if there had been discussions about Copeland appearing at Wrestle Kingdom. Khan said he would leave some mystery around that possibility. Aguilar also asked whether Blood & Guts could become a regular November event, and Khan said he believes November is a strong time of year for it.
Jon Alba congratulated Khan on the Jacksonville Jaguars’ strong start and brought up Jaguars head coach Liam Coen. Khan praised Coen and said he will not be at Blood & Guts in Jacksonville because he will be in Baltimore preparing for a Thursday night game. Alba also asked about possible changes to AEW’s pay-per-view distribution under Skydance. Khan said any changes would be positive and noted that AEW has done very well on HBO Max. He added that it is good for AEW that Skydance is keeping TBS, TNT and HBO Max under the same company.
Jason Powell asked what Khan is looking forward to most at WrestleDream and also brought up Taya Valkyrie finishing her run on Traitors in Canada and wanting more opportunities. Khan discussed several WrestleDream matches he is excited about and said Valkyrie has been great in AEW and ROH. He added that he looks forward to having her back.
Bill Bodkin asked about Jon Moxley’s importance to the AEW locker room, especially following the deaths of Pac and Andy “The Butcher” Williams. Khan said Moxley has been a major part of AEW from the beginning and has consistently been a leader both inside and outside the ring.
Khan said Moxley has been especially important as a leader in recent weeks. He said AEW can count on Moxley every week to perform at a high level, lead by example, push others to be their best and show what it means to be a professional. Khan also pointed to Moxley’s hard-hitting match with Jake Doyle on Collision, which took place shortly after the Pac tribute show and miles away from Moxley’s home, as another example of his commitment.
Khan said he believes Jon Moxley has been at his best over the last few years. He brought up Moxley’s run as champion when he kept the title inside a briefcase and said that, while Moxley’s methods were brutal, they came from his love for AEW. Khan also pointed to Moxley winning the Continental Classic and the way his character changed during that run.
Khan again praised Moxley as a leader and mentioned his interview from Wednesday’s three-hour block, where Moxley spoke about being in a lot of pain. Khan also played up Mark Davis as a serious threat when he challenges Moxley on Saturday. He added that the network is excited about the Continental Classic.
Dominic DeAngelo asked about Mick Foley’s involvement in AEW and for an update on the Hurt Syndicate. Khan said Foley and the Hurt Syndicate have both been part of some of AEW’s best shows of the year. He said Foley came in with a positive attitude and that he is excited to have him in AEW. Khan then went into storyline mode while discussing the Hurt Syndicate being available for hire and compared them to the A-Team.
Sean Radican offered his condolences over the deaths of Pac and The Butcher before asking how Khan balances being a leader and making difficult decisions with such a large roster. Khan brought up the ROH taping held after Pac’s death and said participation was voluntary.
Khan said ROH also helps prepare talent for AEW. He recalled having to go back and forth between ROH and his Jacksonville Jaguars responsibilities that Monday and called it one of the hardest days of his life.
Khan said he has changed ROH’s approach over the last couple of years and believes the promotion is now producing some of its best shows in Jacksonville. He again praised Jaguars head coach Liam Coen for his leadership.
Khan said he simply tries to do the best he can and believes the Pac tribute show was one of the best shows AEW has ever produced. He also said the Collision episode between the Pac tribute show and Grand Slam France was underrated.
Khan closed the call with a few additional comments and said he looks forward to seeing everyone at WrestleDream.
