Tony Khan has been determined to make Ring of Honor a worthwhile product for a long time now, and that’s why it comes as no surprise that Khan has now announced a new Women’s Title for the brand.
After Saturday night’s AEW Collision in Springfield, Massachusetts, and ahead of the ROH TV tapings, Tony Khan made a surprise announcement to the live crowd: a Women’s Pure Championship is officially on the way.
Khan, holding the new title belt, revealed that the inaugural tournament will kick off at Supercard of Honor on May 2nd in Atlantic City, New Jersey. However, no additional details were shared about the tournament or participants.
This new championship becomes the third women’s title in ROH, joining the ROH Women’s World Championship and the ROH Women’s Television Championship, which was introduced in December 2023. With this addition, ROH now features a total of eight championships.
Adding a Women’s Pure Championship is a big and important step for Ring of Honor. The “Pure” style focuses on technical wrestling, clear rules, and fair play. It’s been a big part of what makes ROH special and now women wrestlers will have a chance to shine under those same rules.
This news starts a new chapter for women’s wrestling in ROH. Fans are excited to see who will enter the tournament and try to make history. With Supercard of Honor coming up soon, fans can expect a lot of solid in-ring action in order to crown the first-ever ROH Women’s Pure Champion.
