AEW Collision apparently got ripped up and reworked before going live on September 12.
Tony Khan took to X in a live video shortly before the show and revealed that AEW made major changes to what had originally been planned for the night. He didn’t spell out exactly what got cut, moved or added, but he made it clear the final version of Collision would look different from the original rundown. Khan kept the explanation pretty simple.
“We made a lot of changes of to what was originally supposed to be on the show.”
He then added one line that made the whole thing even more interesting.
“There will be wrestling on the show.”
AEW had already announced that Collision would feature a tribute to “The Butcher” Andy Williams, who died at 48 after suffering a medical emergency during Enjoy Wrestling’s Five Years event at Mr. Smalls Theatre in Millvale, Pennsylvania. AEW also opened this week’s Dynamite with a memorial for Williams.
What Khan didn’t reveal was how much of the rest of the card had changed or whether those changes were connected to the tribute. As of his video, the only thing he was willing to guarantee was that fans would still be getting wrestling on the show.
Collision is set to air from the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Massachusetts at 8 PM ET on TNT, with the show also streaming on Max.
With Khan openly admitting the original plans were changed before bell time, there’s now an extra layer of mystery around what AEW actually has in store tonight.
