AEW President Tony Khan has now revealed if there’s any chance of bringing back AEW Dark, after the show was canceled a couple of years ago.

While speaking to Iridian Fierro, Tony Khan was asked about potentially bringing back AEW Dark. Khan said he would love to bring it back, but only if it works well with AEW’s TV partners.

Khan said starting AEW Collision was a big move for the company, especially because it was part of their new TV deal. AEW Dark was canceled to make space for Collision, and any plan to bring it back would need to fit into AEW’s overall TV plans.

The AEW President added that AEW has a great relationship with Warner Bros. Discovery, including Discovery Global Networks, Warner Bros. Studios, and HBO Max.

“I would love to do that. I think it has to, uh, be something that makes sense with our media partners because when we launched AEW Collision—which is such an important part of AEW TV every week—we really had this great opportunity to go into a new media rights package, and it’s the lifeblood of AEW.

So if we bring AEW Dark back, I just want to make sure that whatever we do makes sense to our great media partners with Warner Brothers Discovery. We have great relationships in the company and with both sides—with Discovery Global Networks and also with the Warner Brothers Studio and HBO Max. So, a lot of great things happening with AEW.”

Tony Khan stated that he has good memories of making hundreds of episodes of AEW Dark and Elevation. However, he made it clear that bringing them back would only happen if it made sense for everyone involved, including people like David Zaslav, Bruce Campbell and others at Warner Bros. Discovery. He’s open to the idea if the timing is right.

“And I love doing AEW Dark. I have so many great memories. We’ve done hundreds of episodes of it—I love it. But across Dark and Elevation, for either or both of them to ever return, I just want to make sure it makes sense to bring AEW Dark back, because it was a conscious decision we made when we launched AEW Collision to sunset those for the time being.

And I’m very open to their return if it ever makes sense for Warner Brothers Discovery, and Mr. David Zaslav, and Bruce Campbell, for Gunnar, and all the great people that we work with at Warner Brothers Discovery.”

AEW Dark was called “Wrestling on YouTube” and gave talent a platform to perform and helped build a loyal following. Therefore, it remains to be seen if the show will ever return, as fans feel it would really benefit the younger talent so they could get more reps in.
