Scorpio Sky was a big part of AEW when the company first started, but he hasn’t been on TV for a long time. After Sky recently revealed his frustrations about his absence, Tony Khan has now addressed Sky’s future in the company.
While speaking during the post-AEW Double or Nothing media scrum, Tony Khan was asked about Scorpio Sky’s status in AEW following Sky’s comments expressing frustration over his absence.
Khan said he likes Sky and that they had talks about ideas for him. Sky has been with AEW since the beginning, and they did plan something, but it didn’t end up happening because things went in a different direction.
Khan said he still thinks highly of Sky and that the idea they had didn’t work out for good reasons. He’s okay with how it turned out and hopes to use Sky in a different way when the time is right.
“Yeah, I like Scorpio Sky, and it’s interesting that Sky’s name came up recently. He mentioned he’s looking to come back. I had had talks with Sky about different ideas and things we could do. Sky’s someone who’s been here since day one, and I saw he said that. We actually had talked to Scorpio Sky about doing something, and we ended up going in a different direction. It’s a long story, but it’d make sense in context.
I do like Scorpio Sky very much. I had an idea for Scorpio Sky that I thought was a good idea—we talked about it, and it didn’t work out for reasons between us, but also for totally legitimate reasons. And I’m fine with it. I’d like to use him for a different idea when the time is right.”
This comes after Scorpio Sky explained why he hasn’t been on AEW for a long time and what fans might think about it. He understands that it may seem like he’s been injured, but that’s not the case.
Sky said he’s been healthy for a while and wants to wrestle again. However, it’s not his decision to make, since wrestlers don’t control everything. He said all he can do is wait and hope he gets a chance to return.
“Well, I mean, anyone that has followed me obviously knows that things have been a little different over the last couple of years. I know I’m healthy and I’ve been healthy for a long time, and I’ve been wanting to compete. But it’s just one of those things where—what can you do? You only have like so much say. You have this much say, you know? And… yeah, you do what you can.”
Sky hasn’t been featured on AEW or ROH programming since the October 7, 2023 edition of ROH television. Therefore, we’ll have to wait and see when Sky will return to AEW television, as fans feel he more than deserves to compete again after so long.
