Jamie Hayter is on the shelf, and Tony Khan says the injury is serious enough to keep her out of action for at least a little while longer.
Following the October 14, 2026 episode of AEW Dynamite/Collision, AEW President Tony Khan went live on X and revealed that Hayter is currently injured.
That also means The Brawling Birds won’t be defending the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship right now, with Khan pointing directly to the Chicago Street Fight as the source of the problem. Khan said he had hoped the champions would be able to defend their titles, but Hayter is still recovering.
“I was hoping The Brawling Birds would be able to defend the Tag Team Championship but Jamie Hayter — from that Chicago Street Fight — is still out injured.”
Khan did offer some optimism when it comes to the timetable, saying he hopes Hayter can return within a couple of weeks.
“Hopefully Jamie Hayter will be back in a couple of weeks. But that was a major injury.”
That last part is the key here. While Khan is hopeful this won’t become a long-term absence, he still described what Hayter suffered as a “major injury,” making it clear AEW isn’t rushing her back.
For now, Jamie Hayter remains sidelined and the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship picture is effectively on hold while the company waits to see how quickly she can recover.
Do you think Jamie Hayter will be back within the next couple of weeks, or should AEW give her more time before returning to the ring? Let us know in the comments.
