AEW has added another title match to Forbidden Door.
Thekla will defend the AEW Women’s Championship against Stardom’s Starlight Kid on June 28 in San Jose, California. The match was confirmed after weeks of Thekla taking shots at Stardom, her former promotion, and repeatedly calling out Stardom president Taro Okada.
During the June 13 AEW Collision, Tony Schiavone tried to apologize for Thekla’s recent comments. The AEW Women’s Champion quickly cut him off and told him to shut his mouth.
Thekla then brought up her past with Stardom, saying the promotion fired her, but she is now on top of the wrestling world. She claimed she had actually given Stardom a gift because everyone was now talking about them.
Thekla then invited Stardom to send its best to Forbidden Door, making it clear that whoever steps up will have to deal with what she has become.
Later in the show, AEW aired a brief video package for Starlight Kid. After that, Thekla was asked for her reaction, and she did not seem worried. She said she knew Starlight Kid and warned that the blood of Stardom would soon be on her hands.
AEW Forbidden Door’s June 28 lineup now includes:
- Men’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Finals: Will Ospreay vs. Swerve Strickland
- Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Finals: TBD vs. TBD
- AEW Women’s Championship: Thekla vs. Starlight Kid
- Team MJF vs. Team Mark Briscoe in a 12-man steel cage match
- Kenny Omega vs. Zack Sabre Jr.
With Thekla vs. Starlight Kid now official, Forbidden Door has another strong interpromotional match on the card. Thekla has made this feud personal with her comments about Stardom, and now Starlight Kid gets the chance to answer inside the ring.
