Tony Khan just added a major championship match to next week’s AEW Dynamite, and the result will have immediate consequences for All Out. During a live Twitter video before the September 16, 2026 episode of Dynamite, Khan announced that Swerve Strickland and The New Level will defend the AEW World Trios Championship against Ricochet and The Gates of Agony.

The match is part of a bigger World Trios Championship Series AEW is running on the road to All Out. Khan explained that Ricochet and The Gates of Agony, collectively known as The Demand, are getting another shot at the titles after previously holding the gold. Khan confirmed the championship match while breaking down what AEW has planned over the next two weeks.

“Next week, Swerve and The New Level will defend the Championship versus The Demand the former Champions who’ve said they have certainly earned a rematch and deserve a rematch for the Championship.”

Khan then made it clear that Ricochet and The Gates of Agony will have the opportunity to walk out of Dynamite with the titles back in their possession.

“Well, the former National Champion Ricochet and The Gates of Agony the former World Trios Champions they’ll get a shot to regain the Championship next week.”

There is even more riding on the match because whoever leaves next week’s Dynamite with the AEW World Trios Championship will already have another defense waiting at All Out. The champions will face the winners of the September 16 match between Hangman Page, Brody King and Bandido and The Conglomeration’s Kyle O’Reilly, Orange Cassidy and Roderick Strong. Khan explained how the two matches connect directly to the pay-per-view.

“The winners of that match the winners of The Demand versus Swerve in The New Level. Next Wednesday, the Champions will defend the title versus the winners of Tonight’s match The Conglomeration O’Reilly Strong and Orange Cassidy versus Hangman and Brodito the winners of Tonight’s match versus the winners of next week’s match for the Championship at all out.”

That puts Swerve Strickland and The New Level in a brutal position heading into next Wednesday. They have to survive Ricochet and The Gates of Agony just to keep the championships, and whoever walks out with the gold will immediately have another team waiting for them at All Out.

Next week’s AEW Dynamite lineup now includes:

  • AEW World Trios Championship: Swerve Strickland & The New Level vs. Ricochet & The Gates of Agony

AEW is wasting no time turning the Trios division into a pressure cooker before All Out. The titles could change hands next Wednesday, and whoever survives will barely have time to enjoy it before another championship fight comes knocking.

Do you think Swerve Strickland and The New Level will retain the AEW World Trios Championship, or are Ricochet and The Gates of Agony taking the titles back? Let us know what you think in the comments.
