Meltzer talks about the infamous ‘gun’ segment featuring Pillman and Austin. He mentions that RAW was moving to a new time slot that night and McMahon wanted something impactful to happen on this show; that’s probably the only reason that he approved this segment. Unfortunately the segment didn’t garner the ratings boost that WWE had hoped for and USA Network made McMahon apologize the following day.
Meltzer still recalls sitting down to watch the Bad Blood PPV in 1997, when McMahon came on the air live during the pre show and informed everyone of Pillman’s passing. Meltzer was distraught and immediately called Pillman’s girlfriend. It was a very sad night.
