Steven Borden is apparently an AEW wrestler now. Eight months after Sting’s son was expected to sign with the company, the common belief within AEW is that the deal has already happened.
According to Fightful Select, Borden is believed to be under AEW contract after spending months regularly working dark matches for the company. That’s a considerable change from December.
Back then, Borden had only wrestled twice for AEW when word emerged that he was expected to sign if he hadn’t already. AEW never announced anything, and his actual contract status remained unclear.
But Borden kept showing up. He has now worked more than two dozen matches, regularly competing in dark matches ahead of AEW shows while continuing to gain experience. Tony Khan had already made it clear how impressed he was after one of Borden’s early appearances.
“I THOUGHT HE WAS EXCELLENT. He’s doing a great job. Very exciting in my opinion.”
Now the mystery surrounding whether Sting’s son actually signed appears to have an answer. While AEW still hasn’t publicly announced a deal, the belief within the company is that Borden is already signed.
He may not be the only Borden AEW is watching either. Steven’s brother Garrett Borden has also started training as a professional wrestler and working matches. There’s no confirmation that Garrett has signed with AEW, but he is on the company’s radar.
Eight months ago, Steven Borden was a prospect expected to land an AEW contract. More than two dozen matches later, those inside the company apparently believe he already has one.
