Steph De Lander just picked a fight with one of America’s most sacred comfort foods, calling biscuits and gravy an absolutely insane meal — and it didn’t take long before fellow wrestlers started firing back.

De Lander took to Twitter on August 23 and admitted that her husband probably wasn’t going to appreciate her opinion. As an Australian living in the United States, she still can’t wrap her head around the idea of covering biscuits in sausage gravy and calling it a meal.

“My husband is going to hate this, but as a foreigner who lives in the US, biscuits & gravy has to be the most insane meal right?”

That was enough to get Mance Warner’s attention, and he didn’t exactly write an essay defending Southern cuisine.

“Wtf”

Zachary Wentz had a little more to say, because apparently insulting biscuits and gravy crossed a line.

“Don’t talk sh*t about my biscuits and gravy. Next you’re gonna tell me you hate Salisbury steak.”

The replies quickly turned De Lander’s food take into a full-blown wrestling debate over whether biscuits and gravy is genius comfort food or one of the strangest things America ever put on a breakfast plate.

De Lander clearly wasn’t trying to start an international incident over breakfast, but she found out pretty quickly that some wrestlers take their biscuits and gravy very seriously. Wentz especially wasn’t about to let the slander slide without defending the dish.

Is Steph De Lander right about biscuits and gravy being an insane meal, or does she owe America an apology for this one? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
