WWE apparently isn’t wasting any time getting CM Punk in front of the crowd tonight. The October 9 episode of SmackDown is the final stop before Money in the Bank, and Punk is currently penciled in to kick off the show with a segment.

According to Viper Reports, Punk is listed as the opening segment on the early rundown for tonight’s SmackDown in Lafayette, Louisiana. That means fans may not have to wait long to hear from him just one night before he steps into the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match. The key word here is early. This is the current rundown for the show, and WWE can always shuffle things around before SmackDown hits the air.

Punk’s return was already announced for tonight’s show after he missed last week’s episode. He enters Money in the Bank alongside Bron Breakker, Je’Von Evans, Trick Williams, Penta and Kevin Owens, giving WWE plenty to work with if they want to start the night with some chaos.

Tonight’s SmackDown also features Fatal Influence defending the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship against Charlotte Flair and Tatum Paxley. The show takes place from the Cajundome in Lafayette and airs live at 8 PM ET on USA Network.

With Money in the Bank less than 24 hours away, opening the show with Punk makes plenty of sense. Whether he gets the microphone to himself or somebody crashes the party is another story, but if the early rundown sticks, WWE plans to put one of Saturday night’s biggest names front and center right away.
