WWE has an early plan in place for how the August 14 episode of SmackDown is expected to end, with Cody Rhodes currently slated for the show’s closing segment. As always with internal rundowns, plans can change before the show goes live.
According to TRNBCKL Gold, a Cody Rhodes segment is currently expected to close out Friday Night SmackDown from Boston. No additional details regarding the segment were provided.
The placement is notable given Rhodes’ ongoing issues with Randy Orton. WWE has already advertised another confrontation between the two former allies for this week’s show as tensions continue to rise on the road to Money in the Bank.
With Rhodes scheduled for the final segment of the night, there’s plenty of room for speculation about what WWE has planned. Whether Rhodes addresses Orton directly, gets interrupted, or finds himself involved in a major angle heading into the Premium Live Event remains unclear.
It’s worth stressing that this is part of WWE’s early rundown for SmackDown and plans can always change throughout the day. For now, however, Cody Rhodes is penciled in for the final segment of the night.
