Solo Sikoa spent years walking around WWE looking like he wanted to murder everybody in sight, but apparently that is nowhere close to the guy people see when the cameras stop rolling.
WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select said people backstage are loving the fact that WWE is finally letting Solo show more personality on television. His recent character shift has moved him away from the silent, stone-faced Bloodline enforcer role and given fans a glimpse of the guy his coworkers have known behind the scenes.
“Everybody I’ve talked to backstage really likes that he’s getting that opportunity to show his personality, be a little bit more of a character rather than just a stone-cold killer and someone who very rarely showed any emotion in his previous iterations of Solo Sikoa.”
That backstage reputation got another boost during SummerSlam weekend when Ricky Saints was asked who the funniest person in the WWE locker room was. He did not hesitate.
“The premise of this video was asking Superstars, ‘Who’s the funniest person in the locker room?’ Got to Ricky Saints, and without a question, without a hesitation, he says Solo Sikoa.”
TC said that answer was not some random pick either. According to him, that is how a lot of people inside WWE actually see Solo when he is away from the serious television character.
“That’s a lot of the way people feel, and that’s really who he is as a person.”
WrestleVotes had already heard the same thing before Saints ever gave his answer.
“As we reported last week, our source is telling us he is the funniest wrestler backstage.”
That makes Solo’s current WWE character change a lot more interesting. Instead of forcing him to spend every segment staring holes through people, the company is finally letting some of his real personality bleed onto television, and people behind the curtain appear to be fully behind it.
Solo has already started getting a different reaction from fans as more of that personality comes out, and if WWE keeps leaning into it, the guy once presented as one of the most emotionless members of The Bloodline could end up becoming one of its most entertaining.
