Sol Ruca is finally opening up about the terrifying fall that left her with a nasty head wound during NXT Revenge Week 2 in April.
While speaking to Denise Salcedo, Ruca looked back on the scary moment from her Last Woman Standing match against Zaria. The fall happened late in the match when Zaria shoved Sol off a platform toward two tables below. The spot did not go clean, as Sol missed one table and struck the back of her head before crashing through the other.
Sol Ruca admitted the moment was scary, but said she was thankful the injury was not worse. She needed staples after the fall, but avoided a concussion or any more serious damage.
“Honestly, terrifying. But thankfully I was okay. I had to get a few staples, but I didn’t have a concussion or anything serious.”
Ruca also called the situation bittersweet because it happened right after she and Zaria shared an emotional moment in the match. Despite the scary landing, Ruca made it clear she does not hold it against Zaria.
“It was kind of a bittersweet moment. Right before that happened, Zaria and I had a nice moment—we were hugging, and I thought we were going to be fine—and then that happened. I do miss her, and I do forgive her for that. Hopefully one day we can get back together, but we’ll see.”
The scariest part for Ruca was realizing mid-fall that she might completely miss the tables. Once she landed, she was confused about where she ended up. Ruca said she ended up underneath one of the tables and had a brief moment of confusion after impact.
“As for what was going through my mind—I knew the tables were down there, but as soon as she pushed me, I thought I went way over them. I thought I was going to completely miss them. Then I ended up underneath one of them, and I was like, ‘Where am I? What happened?’ Honestly, it is terrifying. But I think it came out well, and I’m just happy I didn’t get seriously injured.”
After the match, Ruca shared a photo on Instagram showing the back of her head closed with multiple staples. The image made it clear just how nasty the cut was, but her latest comments confirm the situation could have been much worse.
So now we have a much clearer picture of how dangerous the moment really was. While the fall looked brutal on television, the good news is that she avoided a concussion and any major injury despite needing staples.
