Sin Cara isn’t shutting the door on WWE. In fact, it sounds like he’s been thinking about what another run could look like—and this time, he believes he’d be coming back with a completely different mindset.
Speaking to TMZ’s Inside the Ring, the former WWE star first talked about opportunities for Mexican and Latino wrestlers. He said that’s all he’s ever wanted, both for himself and for the next generation coming up behind him.
“He got the opportunity to become a star. That’s all we’ve asked all this time. All I ask is an opportunity. All I ask for the new generation is an opportunity for the Mexican kids or Latino kids to showcase their talent. That’s all we’ve asked all this time. And hopefully that time has come now.”
That led to the obvious question: if WWE called tomorrow and asked him to become Sin Cara again, would he do it? Sin Cara admitted he’s in a much different place than he was during his original WWE run. Looking back, he feels a lot of the decisions he made back then came from emotion, while age and experience have completely changed the way he looks at things today.
“I mean, I think I’ve gotten more mature now. When you’re younger, you do a lot of decisions for your emotions. I get that as you get older, as your kids get older and you’re in time, you’re out of that big monster, you realize a lot of things. For me, I wouldn’t mind coming back.
If they would ask me or we would talk, ‘Hey, you want to portray Sin Cara again?’ I would love to do that definitely again and give it another shot.”
Those comments carry a little more weight when you remember how his first WWE run came to an end. Back on November 11, 2019, Sin Cara publicly requested his release, saying he felt “stuck” and wasn’t being valued as either an athlete or an entertainer. WWE granted that request the following month, ending his time with the company.
Because of that history, it’s easy to understand why he sees another run as a chance to write a different ending. Even so, he knows that’s not a decision he gets to make on his own.
“Maybe this time that opportunity can come, you know, but I don’t know. Only God has that answer. The other thing that I can do is keep preparing myself to continue doing what I love, which is wrestling.”
What stood out most, though, was that this isn’t just an answer he gives whenever someone asks about WWE. Sin Cara admitted it’s something he genuinely thinks about from time to time, especially because wrestling has taught him to never rule anything out.
“It’s something that I really think about sometimes in my head. Like, what if this and what if that happen? And in wrestling, anything is possible. You understand that?”
A WWE return isn’t something Sin Cara says is currently in the works, but it’s clearly something he hasn’t closed the book on either. The way his first run ended left him feeling like there was unfinished business, and if the opportunity ever comes around again, he’d gladly take another shot at making the Sin Cara character everything he originally hoped it could be.
