Shotzi’s surprise appearance at TNA’s post-Bound For Glory tapings got plenty of people wondering what her next move might be. As it turns out, she entered the show as a free agent.
According to Fightful Select, Shotzi’s contract with MLW expired on October 5, just days before she showed up at TNA’s television tapings in Dothan, Alabama. The former WWE star made a surprise appearance and even wrestled during the tapings, leading to immediate speculation about whether she could be sticking around.
That doesn’t mean Shotzi is done with MLW, though. Fightful reports that people within the company had nothing but positive things to say about working with her and hope they’ll get the chance to bring her back. The promotion has reportedly already discussed ideas involving Shotzi for its 2027 schedule if she’s available.
Shotzi had a successful run in MLW before her deal expired, capturing the MLW Women’s World Featherweight Championship and holding it for 217 days. That made her one of the promotion’s most recognizable names before she became available again.
Her TNA appearance also wasn’t exactly out of the blue. Before signing with WWE, Shotzi wrestled for Impact Wrestling in 2018 and 2019, so her return marked a familiar stop rather than a first-time debut.
For now, it looks like Shotzi has options. She’s no longer under contract with MLW, TNA has already brought her back onto its programming, and MLW is interested in working with her again. Wherever she lands next, it doesn’t sound like she’ll be short on opportunities.
