Sgt. Slaughter is headed for the big screen, and this is something he’s clearly been wanting for a long time.
The WWE Hall of Famer announced on social media that a live-action movie based on his fictional military character is officially in the works, and he even included a teaser scene to give fans their first look at the project. Slaughter, whose real name is Robert Remus, made it clear this isn’t some random side project. He says getting the character onto the silver screen is something he has been chasing for a long time.
“To ALL My Incredible, Loyal WRESTLING & G.I. JOE Fan Base…This Is Robert Remus, AKA: Sgt Slaughter & I Am Very Excited To Announce, That A Live-Action Movie, A Story Based On My Fictional Military Character, Is In The Works. It Is Something That I’ve Visualized & Worked Tirelessly, To Have One Day, Arrive To The Paramount, The Silver Screen.”
Slaughter then called on his wrestling and G.I. Joe fanbase to rally behind the project, asking them to watch the teaser, share it and make some noise. He wrapped things up with an emotional thank-you to the fans who have stuck with him over the years.

Slaughter has been one of wrestling’s most recognizable military characters for decades, and his connection to G.I. Joe only made the gimmick even bigger outside the ring. Now that same character could be getting a whole new life in live-action form.
There’s still no word on a release date, cast or who will actually play Sgt. Slaughter, but the project is clearly far enough along for a teaser to exist — and Slaughter is already trying to get fans behind it.
After spending decades barking orders in wrestling rings and cartoons, Sgt. Slaughter may finally be getting his shot at Hollywood. Now it comes down to whether this thing can go from teaser footage to an actual movie people will line up to see.
